Most of the network owners think the only requirement for making a network a success is getting tons of affiliates. Which may appear as obvious to many. However, it actually needs much more.

1- First and foremost you need advertisers.
Sorry, i mean "good advertisers". Who have good converting offers. They should be around in the market for quite some time now. Else quite possible you may have to keep chasing them for payment after the leads are delivered to them.

2- Good number of quality affiliates.
This is the second toughest job in this market. quality affiliates tend to work with big and established networks. However gradually they will find you. When you will be paying all your existing affiliates on time. Then these small and medium-sized affiliates will share their experiences with other affiliates in their circle and this way you will get a mention in the market.

    3- Affiliate managers
You will need a team of good affiliate managers who are always ready to help the affiliates. Affiliates need to be educated about new offers about their terms and conditions. About which methods will bring the maximum ROI for the affiliates. This way they will help the affiliates who in turn will do more business with you. So not just look for managers those who have 1000 skype contacts. Rather look who has the most inclination towards helping affiliates.

    4- Tracking Solution
You need a robust solution for tracking of offers, affiliates, managers, advertisers. Which has to be user-friendly, real-time, detailed in reporting, 100% uptime because if their solution goes down then that can be a severe loss to your business, quality support,

    5- Decent amount of cash
Ya that's true for making money you first need to spend money. Because many times it happens that the payments from advertisers are late, and you have to ensure timely payment to your affiliates and managers. Plus you need a good budget for promotion of your network. So it needs money for that as well.

    Now comes the good part.
The points written above refer to the tough aspects of this business.
But those who managed to get things done are making money much more than they planned or expected. So all the hard work pays off in the end.

I'm pretty sure a tracking system is the absolute, #1. All else is true.

It's also really depending on communication: your networking skills, your communication skills with affiliates, problem-solving... etc
