You don't input your keyword "into" anything but your content, SE's don't work that way. You dont just tell the SE's directly "Okay dude, here's my keywords I want to rank for." - The SE's crawl, collect data, and let people search for it. Make an article that is written around your KEYWORD, and google will find that relevant to show someone as a result.

Does it matter how much i write about it? I can't write more than 10 pages about it. The keyword i'm going for has low competition, But how would i compete with everyone else for that keyword.

around 500 words is usually enough with the keyword mentioned about 5 times, once in the opening, 3 times in the body then again in the conclusion should be enough.
Also, make sure your keyword is in h1 tag, also you may want to include the same keyword + others in a single h2 tag or just a similar keyword in an h2, I wouldn't have more than one h2 or h1 aswell.

I wrote an article containing the keyword twice and once in the SEO summary and the tags. Will this increase my rank at all?
Needs to be in the title and the resource box.
Anything else is suboptimal.
