Why do you want happiness so much? Personally, I have never wanted to pursue happiness because that's a rather pointless quest.
I want to build things, do stuff better than yesterday, help others, increase my skills and knowledge, and yeah, make money. But happiness as some type of a mythical creature that will make me feel oh-so-great all the time? Nah, thanks, I don't need that.
Feeling shitty can be beneficial in discovering your true potential; if you're never satisfied with your circumstances, you will always strive for more in your life, and that's a good thing in my book.
