    hi,

form last google update, when i lost some websites and my earnings dramatically felt down, i wonder, what to do next... is there any sense to build next websites to rank them in google?
even if i do my backlinks campaign better than before, i can not be sure that my webstes will be not hit by the next google update.
now i understand, all my earnings depends on google. i dont want it. more often i think how to be independent of google?

Just work on bing, yahoo, other search engines, social media, and aggregators of relevant sorts. There are tons of ways to not only rely on google. Most of which, you should probably be doing anyways. Don't put your all your eggs in one basket, ya know?

    Hi,

couple of my websites also got hit by the algo and I decided to get another source of traffic , specifically youtube. When you start with yt it's a bit hard to make videos, but after some time you will get hang of it and eventually will get the traffic you need. It's not the same quality as organic traffic you get from search engine , but it does it's job in higher volume.

i think, the best idea is making own products (some software or ebooks) and promote them by clickbank. in this way i dont need google. however i need to attract affiliates.

It all depends upon what you are doing. Is it your own products that you are promoting or are you doing some affiliate marketing stuff?

If you want to avoid Google because you got caught is up to you.

Personally I love the free traffic that Google brings. I've been where you have been and instead of giving up and throwing in the towel I did my best to fix the situation and my rankings. I'm glad I did because my rankings are back after the latest refresh.

If you don't adapt and learn from your mistakes you'll be penalized again in the future. Learn and adapt or die.

To be honest, Google is and will remain to be a king when it comes to traffic. I know what I am talking about as I rank nr. 1 in Yahoo and Bing for some 50K+ monthly searches words... and the traffic is just... nothing compared to the one from Google.

Of course, there are alternative ways to generate traffic but if I was you, I would rather work on stable strategy that can survive Google updates. It makes no sense to put a lot of effort into traffic sources that represent just a fraction of a pie! (Yet a decent fraction in some niches :))

Google can't get independent of us and vice versa. Seo doesn't die, it just changes forms.

Google works on sides with us to evolve to be more efficient in fooling the other.

In my opinion google doesn't has much options when it comes to determining ranking factors. I am seeing it playing around with and fine tuning same old tactics to supposedly make search results more relevant and eradicating spam. And we IMers have also been fine tuning our spamming strategies to be one step ahead. The big G was all about links and will always be about links and all we need to be concerned about testing what kind/properties of links currently work.

If you want long-term stable income, you need to change your thinking with regards to Google being your "main source" of traffic to "one source" of traffic.

No matter how good at SEO you are, Google is always a gamble. So smart SEOs/IMers diversify their traffic and income streams to weather the inevitable storms.

The majority of my income still comes from SEO, but I'm not gonna be a moron and sit around waiting for Google to bitch slap me.

Learn other areas of IM like Social Media, PPC, Email marketing as well as explore non-IM ventures too. Good luck.

Paid traffic, I guess. I've seen a lot of people shifting towards paid traffic. Or, use social media to bring traffic. They might not be targeted initially, but if you do it right along the way, you could break free from Google.
