How to be approved for adsense

Can I post videos that are copyrighted but allowed for youtube use (obviously they are not monetized) to reach the 1000 subscribers to qualify for adsense? Will youtube not approve me for monetization if I do this?

What about if I'm using content that isn't original but isn't copyrighted?

Maybe yes, try to upload popular videos to get the 1000 subs and 4k watchpage but before you apply it for adsense make sure to delete all the uploaded videos and upload your video that you planned to monetized.
