How to Backlink to the main site?

Ive read a lot about link building (linkwheels, satellites, whitehat techniques and blackhat stuff, even about the tools beeing used) but there is one information missing in every Post/Article ive read:


How many percent of the links should point to the domain itself and how many percent of the backlinks should point to subdomains, single pages (posts) and is it wise to even backlink to some images on the webspace?

will cause many an argument but at the end of the day, once a page is indexed and the SE's are aware of it, it doesnt matter. All my links point to homepage only as G for instance can crawl and read all content on any page if uploaded properly. All my links point to homepage only on all my sites and yet every page is indexed and rank very high in good competition. Content is key

Ensure you have a good index and catagories etc on page

Thanks for your reply. I think a mix would be better at all. Looks more natural. But i dont know if google cares about natural linkbuilding anymore after seeing all the blackhatters go way high with their comment spam - mhhh Does anybody know ig its possible to rank #1 and stay there when using comment and forum profile links only?
