It's so daunting to make your first purchase. Some of the sellers absolutely sound too good to be true, yet have shit loads of +1s...

This is a very detailed guide boss.

Manners maketh man. Maintain etiquette at all times when selling + provide as much value as possible!

"Choose Your Payment Methods Wisely. For those of you who use Paypal, don't ever send money to someone via the Family & Friends feature. https://www.paypal.com/us/webapps/mpp/paypal-safety-and-security.

    Hey Zwielicht,

Sorry to bother you but I'm new and have a question re: the advice given in this thread.

Guideline 8 says don't ever send money to someone via F&F and this is something I think is very reasonable - but I see a lot of sellers in the social media category who say they only accept F&F. Some even say F&F preferred but when I request an invoice (and offer to pay the seller's fee so they get the full amount), I'm told they will only accept F&F or the use of a middle man.

I'm not currently calling out any particular seller - but I'm genuinely curious if the position of the forum on F&F payments has changed since this was posted. I'm a first time buyer so even if a thread has positive reviews, I'm still cautious (especially if most of the reviews are coming from fellow newbie accounts) about the seller being able to take the money and run off with the money.

    Thanks
    LoS

Thank you for the thorough guide. I’m pretty sure I would have never caught on to this type of thread. Makes me think I need to be more cautious when judging the authenticity of a post-something I already thought I was doing. Thanks, again.

Very informative. This is the one of few post that i searched upon signing with this site. I've been duped several times so thats why i'm overly careful now. Thanks.

    Scared money don’t make money!

just dive in with a cheap one. The thing with buying IM stuff online is that you’re most likely gonna get your share of good and bad ones, its just part of the process to go through them. Keep OPs notes in mind to the best of your ability but if your scammed or, the more likely outcome than an outright scam, receive lackluster service then chalk it up as business expense for experimentation.

not everyone has money to burn though i get it but this is 2019, and the reality is that competition is heavy so having financial runway to find advantages for your business makes a huge difference in the challenge to stand out

That's a great newbie guide for scammers on the internet, because most of them use these same tactics everywhere online. However, it got me wondering whether my profile picture refers to this -
