Hi friends.. I build a new local business website, this service provider service about 50 cities in 30 mills radius and offer two completely different service fields.
also they insist it will all be working from the same website and not micro sites as many people will do.

My plan is to build 2 pages for each city one for service X and another one for service Y, so i can focus on one major keyword in each page (the services completely different)

The biggest problem I have is that I don't know how to create 50 pages that will be semi-Unique without the risk of getting penelised by google. can I use any html code to let the SE know the reason that i have all these pages and what is the different between them.

I tried to explain the situation as much as I can please ask me if you need more input..

Thank you for your help :)

You'll need new content on each page. Perhaps write the pages in proper spinnable format and spin them up for each new section.

Manually spin the articles if you cannot create new content; rearrange paragraphs, use synonyms, and omit sentences.

I know about the spin option, I wanted to know if there is another option.. I found something that seems like what I am looking for "rel=canonical" can someone explain it in a simple way for me and tell me if it will work good in my case please..

I would not take anything automatic, as that is the beginning of the end of such networks.
You want to build money websites for your clients so treat is a a diamond to last as long as possible and invest as much energy as possible. If you can't write it yourself, just make a frame of what the content should be around and give it to 50 writers or at least 25 to make the text unique to ensure a long lasting quality that would pass a hand check.
Cheers
Dan

If you don't want to screw your client then put unique and quality content on all 50 pages... Get good writers your client will pay for it... Since it's gonna be local market individual page will be factor in ranking and actual people will visit those pages and crappy page or content will just force visitors to go away...

Am I the only one who thinks that 50 cities in a 30mile radius is a little extreme?

Meh not at all, how does 55,000 cities covering an entire country grab you. Works too. Done it for years (since 2010), there is no duplicate penalty, the pages don't trip over each other in search because each is optimised for a separate town. You wont rank for big cities but you'll hit 1st place for 100s of places and top 10 for 1000s. Not "spun" either. Well not in the traditional way. Produced by swapping out seed tags like mail merge.

Do you think its better if I do each city as a sub-domain or a page?

You could certainly try using a sub-domain and have a PMD. That could possibly help it rank a little better for local results.

Can you please explain a little farther?

Let's say you're building a local business website for a sole proprietor who sells home-made armchairs and he wants to service 3 different cities. You can create a website called furnishedarmchairs.losangeles.com for one city, and then keep creating subdomains for each city that way.

You don't have to use PMDs as they don't help significantly, I'm not even sure why I even mentioned that in my previous post.

So you recommend to use sub-domain structure, doesn't it make the off page SEO & SEM harder? (I understood that I will need to treat every sub as different website)
Also my options are between "losangeles.furnishedarmchairs.com" to "furnishedarmchairs.com/losangeles" and so forth..

What is PMD's? I tried to google it and couldn't find anything..

Thanks for the help I really appreciate it..

i would rather have a pluggin which can located the visitors ip address and show them the content "the page which is targeting them " and have one page with different version i can do it with MSv but not sure how it can be done in wordpress

If you have a parent company that offers two unrelated services in multiple cities, you should build a website for each service, and put a page or two in the site about those locations.

You cannot rank a business site easily when you have two unrelated services, any more than you can rank a site in regular SEO about 2 different niches.

In google's eyes, any legitimate small business offers one thing, and they specialize in that one thing. If you have a sign company, and a patio building firm, you are running two hobbies as far as google is concerned, or you are an entrepreneur.

Google HATES entrepreneurs in the local space because so many small business owners complained about these companies taking their local work. That is in fact why the local algorithm as born.

If the services are related, that is different. BUT WAIT, there is more:

Google considers something related if it is common to see the item in question on similar sites.

For instance, Google considers "carpet cleaning" and "tile and grout cleaning" as related (many companies offer both services) but do not consider carpeting and hardwood floor refinishing as related because while the human brain immediately sees that these are both related by being floor coverings, Google see's very few hardwood floor companies that do carpet cleaning. (anyone doing both will migrate to hardwoods in time because it is more lucrative and less competitive).

Don't apply rational human thinking to what google does. Do research. Generally, if you have similar things on your site that your number one competitor has, you should rank better. Google considers those things related.

Watch the grouping in keyword planner too.
