Okay so I'm in a niche on youtube using a video that my competitors are already using. I know I can beat them in terms of SEO however I know from experience that YouTube is harsh about duplicate content.

Will cutting out the intro and outro of the video be suitable for avoid YouTube's duplicate content filter or is it cleverer than that? Any other ideas as to how I can avoid the duplicate content filter?

inb4 lecture about making original content, I usually do but this video is particularly good and I know it will convert better than any videos I could make.

Cheers

Yes, if you cut out the intro and outro, youtube will see it as a unique video.Even a pixel is enough to make it unique ;)

I use proshow producer to create a new video with old videos and some extra images, never had a problem

How about third party content? If you would cut let's say 1 sec in the beginning and 1 sec in the end, then youtube is unable to recognize that the remaining of the video still matches for 99,99% with an original and copyright video?

I'm pretty sure if you do that with a movie, tv show or something else copyright they'll still be able to detect it. Even if they don't detect it, some of the big copyright holders hire people to go around finding their stuff on Youtube and file DMCA notices.

The video's that i'll be posting will not contain movie, tv shows or that "popular" kind of stuff. It'll be to motivatie people for a better way of living so to say. Motivational speeches and maybe some "scientific" research which supports the statement made in the video

Thanks for all the replies guys, gonna try just cutting out the intro and outro. Hopefully my video won't get penalised!

I put my own intro and outro, change audio, cut some of the original video, and my video's still get deleted, one video one pva account one IP.

normally a small logo on the bottom right or left should be enough ..so that you dont have to waste too much time editing..

Slish480:
Maybe the videos you are posting are being detected by people working for the companies that made them?
Are you posting videos with rare content?

By the way, I wasn't able to quote slish480 because I apparentely was trying to post a message that has triggered BHW's moderation system..
Can't newbies quote people?

YouTube isn't harsh about duplicate content, there are tons of copied videos ranking well

Do you mean by that, that I can just upload 3rd party content and not delete it after it's being detected and still monetize the other video's that I have which don't match 3rd party content without getting banned, or my earned money being taken away?
