I've noticed a website in my highly competitive niche keeps showing up on the first page. It is a long single page, with affiliate links for software. The only other page associated with the site is a disclosure page, and that's it.

This site is designed to look like a blog post with comments at the end. Google displays the site in the results and says "Posted 1 day ago" or "Posted 2 days ago". However, it's the exact same content every time. The only thing that changes is the date of the post, and the dates on the generic comments.

My question is, has anyone else tried fooling Google with a tactic like that? It's been going on for at least 4 months now, and I expected this site to fade away but it hasn't. What would be the best way to do it? I was thinking about using WordPress for something similar to this. I figure if I can't beat them I might as well join them. :)

If it were me, I would get the page setup exactly how I wanted it, save it as flat HTML and then go back and use some PHP to change the dates on things based on the server time.
