How to attract more affiliate to our affiliate program?

As my title, i would like to know how you attract the affiliates to sell your products?
I have run my affiliate program one year, but it just have several effect affiliates selling my products.

Contact sites ranking in your niche or pick a similar niche and contact those webmasters.

I have tried to contact some webmasters, but they didn't respond me.

Do you sell a physical or digital products? When me and my friend run an affiliate program that sold mobile tarrifs for students, we contacted student portals and websites. Also some websites like 9gag (but local and smaller of course) promoted our products.

What we did was:

- A set of professional banners (both static and animated in flash)
- We communicated a transparent payment policy (i.e. you get paid this and this and the cookie is valid 30 days)
- And I personally e-mailed all the websites that we wanted to participate in our program

After all we made just few bucks from all this, because the tarrif was not that successful online, but it was a good lesson and we had some good traffic from the participating websites.

I run the affiliage Program for software, so i am finding a good way for attracting affiliates.
Yes, I think a banner will be good way. May be i should join in some affiliates forum to promote our program also.

Have you tried working with networks who have a solid base of publishers instead of trying to get them yourself individually?

How this can be done ? what networks ?

You can go through ShareASale, LinkConnector, etc. to gain more traction for your program.
While you can't circumvent them, you may find a solid number of affiliates there that are willing to promote your program and see how well it performs.
If you grow sufficiently, try CJ, Linkshare, Pepperjam and the like, because you will need an initial payment that's higher than what you may want to spend at the moment on a test.
