I have a website that I did by hand in html. Wordpress was not used at all on this site. I want to import Wordpress tags and a cloud into the site. For instance, an article about dogs-tags would be terrier, pet, etc with the cloud in the right hand side bar. I installed Wordpress from hostgator's control panel. I am assuming that I have to first import my site into Wordpress which I don't know how to do. I also don't know how to just take the tags and cloud feature and add that in. There is nothing else I want but that. Any help would be appreciated because I have no idea what I am doing.

You can't "import" your static site into WP. You can't "export" the tag feature from WP to your static site.

You will be able to get most of the job done, with one of the most advanced techniques known to members of this forum.

Its a little shared secret, and I don't know if the mods will ban me if I share it but here goes....

Copy & paste.

You can get a plugin for tags, and have them done in no time.

Copy and paste what? My own html? Then get the plug in after that?

Easiest way to do this is to convert your existing site into a wordpress site. That solves all your problems, depending on what your sites design, this can be very simple to complex. For a better idesa on how easy/hard we would need to know the domain. Once done you need to map your old pages to the new ones so you dont lose pr/backlinks/etc. for example www.example.com/index.html(old homepage) redirects to www.example.com/index.php(new homepage) etc.
Hope this gets you going in the right direction.
