someone already suggested vim, try that, from my experience it can handle bigger files than notepad++, you'll need RAM though, however it wasn't yesterday when i last used it, so i can't remember how big the files were exactly that i handled with it, but those also contained millions of lines for sure

yes even I worked with VIM for my official IT project last year.. it must be good for your requirement..
