What is the difference if you buy views for a newly uploaded video vs week old video?

Will YT in 2020 give your video a 'boost' if their algo sees it is performing well on views, etc?

Mostly, boost happens in under 2 days and in one hour for most channels with good fanbase.

Thanks. How about for a new channel with, say, 1K botted subs. Will buying views can trick the algo that it is 'going viral' ?

yes buying views can trick into video going viral but it depends on the source of the views. if the viewbot quality and proxy quality is high , yes then it works

there is a great difference, the YouTube ranking algo will give a new-born video some 'initial boost credit' it used to be better and longer credit in the past, but since it got abused they limit it.
this is also the reason when users say the 'managed to rank' on the first 1-2 days.

so if you start to push views (must be real and not automated) as soon as the video was uploaded and public INSTANTLY (not after 12-24 hours !) you have a better chance that the YouTube algo
will detect that your video is 'about to getting viral' and then it will 'boost' it even more with suggestions and search placements, again this is not as simple as that, YouTube algo will consider MANY other factors such as channel authority, past promotions, subscribers base, engagements, social shares and real human user interactions with that video.
 
Botted sub. won't last.
So it's good to go in an organic way.
100 genuine subscribers far better than 1000 fake subscribers.

wow... I was basically wasting money till now.
So how u rank videos on YT this days? i don't understand...
Youtube just blocking accounts and dropping videos so quick those days.

Watchtime by itself is useless, you need more stuff, look at my analytics with excellent watchtime for a video that doesn't recommended (and its all organic traffic coming from my other videos)

A pro tip for you mate. Invest your time into making quality content. Don's waste your time with bought views subs etc.
