The site I am promoting has a couple possible keywords that could work with it. Most of them have between 10,000 and 50,000 monthly searches according to Google, but all of them have the little "competition" bar full on the Google Keyword tool, meaning competition is heavy obviously. The number one spot for my keyword is a news site, and has 83 backlinks to it, and the second results is also a news report type page with 1000 backlinks or so to it.

Is this really going to be hard to get a first page result? My domain is fairly new (a few months), and im not ranked at all, but I saw some quality SEO services here I would use, one included a 15 day trial that a lot of people saw success with, even when they werent ranked at all.

In terms of backlinking, should I go for an xRumer blast, or high quality blog posts with high PRs?

In terms of content, I have keyword rich content constantly being written for my site so I am not too worried about that (most content is unique, some is spun).

Thanks for all the help.

From what I have read here, some Xrumer blasts are in order. I understand it to work wonders for sites. Good luck!

So it wouldn't hurt the site at all? And is getting 500 confirmed backlinks to random PR 0-2 sites better than say 10 backlinks PR 3-6?

I'd go for high quality blog post over xummer. Just make sure that you space out the time that you are acquiring these backlinks. If you get a handful of authoritative links overnight that might tip google off, so space it out over a few weeks or months depending on how many you are going to get.

You should get all of your on page stuff done and throw some backlinks at the site. Then see where you rank after a few days while you continue to backlink.

Only hands on work will give you answer to these questions.
