Yes, these days lots of people using autobots for backlinking other websites, even they don't care about its niche related or not. as a result, lots of real peoples who struggling to promote their ideals are facing a big challenge. if anyone face such attack they should remove links manually, if they try to remove all links by a click that may harm their important contents.

Google ignores bad links, if your rankings drop you can try disavowing them...

Check the back links ,make sure they have better metrics and relevant to your keywords. Check content as well, you can analyze the metrics and traffic too.
