A while back, I bought the domain dentist-city.com. Did a good amount of work on it, and got it on the 1st page for 5 keywords. Combining the searches for all the keywords, there are 900 or so searches.

I've had the site sitting around and never monetized it.

    Any suggestions?

Are you serious? Are you telling me you've never read the "Guaranteed $10k per month Hybrid" thread that's constantly at the top of this section? In fact I've just looked through your posts and you've posted in the thread multiple times.

Go back and read it, all your answers are there. You've done the hard work, selling the ad space to local dentists is the easy part.

I read your post and see you are not getting many replies. I am working on the same principle in Kansas City. I am much better at selling than at the "SEO tasks".

Maybe we could help each other?

What city do you live in and what city is your dentist page?

Instead of putting ads on the site why don't you go around to all the local dentists offices and try to sell it to them? $2000 is a lot more money than a petty $1 click every week or so from Adsense.

I come from a city of 150,000 and this is my model on those sites, lets say it's for dentists as per your example
I build a html home page with a big box for "featured dentist" down the right third of the page. This gives a bit of a blurb about the dentist and his practice, the featured dentist also has a page called featured dentist.

Then my content fills the rest of the page and then down the bottom a list of all the dentist in the city - these are not links nor do they include any contact details, just the dentist office name.

Then I build 4 separate pages for dentist listings - my city can easily be split into 4 - maybe more or less for other areas.

I charge on a sliding scale charged quarterly

    featured $250 quarterly
    listed 1 $150
    listed 2 $140
    listed 3 $130
    listed 4 $120

obviously the higher you are listed the more they pay.

the example here probabluy gives you a better ideawhat I'm trying to describe

Sorry bout that - here's one you don't need a magnifying glass for.

As for the helpfulness of it - I've shared a method and given an example.

The niche and content won't be shared.

That picture was bigger, but what help is this to anyone?

The info you posted was a nice share. Thanks for that.

You should have just left the picture out all together unless you think anyone could get anything of value from it.

great job on some excellent ranking for good kw, but why would you waist your time doing it if you didnt have an idea to monetize it.

But either way it goes start cold calling some dentist and explain to them about your site. and put an emphasis on how important seo is for business.

With any luck you ban rent a spot out on your site to said dentist. With a bit more luck
the you can sell your seo service to this dentist.

*HINT* look in the yellow pages for dentist already spending money on advertising
and tell them that phone book advertising is old technology $$$

thats exactly how I do it - as well as one's who advertise in local newspapers.

the easiest are new businesses, they are looking for ways to promote themselves.

I usually don't bother with the business that previously had the good positions as they seem to get quite cranky with you for some reason. I've had threats of legal action (no grounds whatsoever) as well as threats of violence.

I'm wondering how important the domain name is in this instance? If the domain name wasn't as nice but the page rank was still the same would their still be as much potential to monize this website???
