Hi

Long story short: I started my online business at the beginning of the year, and of course i've reached to the point where i must focus most of my time on seo/advertising/sales/marketing/etc

I spent some time trying to learn about seo and get the grasp out of it, however there is one thing that I cannot comprehend/I cannot understand: how exactly is seo helping me get organic customers? Okay i understood that my having better rank page / any other metric increased that will tell google that my page is trusted, therefore resulting in my page being shown in the first results; I also understand that backlinks might be a really good way to get traffic since i basically buy from someone an article created on a blog which has many visitors and that link on his article might get me some visitors, but is that it? I feel like I'm missing out some good points or i don't fully understand something

also, if you'd like to share some black hat seo tricks to boost my website would be nice :)

Thanks!

I think you’re on the right track — SEO is not only about backlinks or ranking higher, it’s about making sure your site actually satisfies the search intent. You can rank, but if your content doesn’t answer the visitor’s question, they’ll leave quickly and that sends bad signals to Google.

Apart from backlinks, things like on-page optimization, page speed, internal linking, and even CTR from the SERPs can make a big difference in organic growth. I’ve seen sites with fewer backlinks still win because their content was more engaging and matched search intent better.

Have you already tried optimizing your internal linking and improving page speed? Sometimes small tweaks there give noticeable resu
lts.

Getting backlinks is not only about getting traffic from a big site. It's about authority. If a big site with authority links to you, there's must be something good about your site. If plenty of such sites link to you, then there is definitely something good about what you have to offer. search engines take it as a sign to rank your content.

SEO helps by making your site more visible when people search for products or services you offer, so organic customers find you without paid ads. It’s not just about rankings but also creating useful content that matches what your audience wants. Black hat tricks might give quick gains but usually cause problems down the line, so playing it safe with solid SEO is better for long-term success.

Thanks for all the replies, however I am still confused. From your responses, seo help my page rank higher, build authority and gain me organic visitors. The last part (gaining organic visitors) is what I don't understand. If everybody works on their SEO + there are already solutions in my area (SMM), then how could I ever possibly outrank them, in order to be displayed in front of them? Like are people actually going through every page of google result and maybe they will find me there? Or maybe by having the backlinks to some other websites with more authority and more visitors, maybe that will bring me organic visitors? This is truly what I don't understand about SEO.

Regarding above quotes, I told my feedback above them

But related to this:

Yes I did some optimizing regarding internal linking + improved page speed + making my website really good mobile optimized. I also checked core web vitals and some other metrics to see where I stand, and regarding that point of view, it seems I am okay (or at least the results are good)

But I still cannot comprehend how exactly are "organic visitors" going to come to my website.

So far I have advertised my business (SMM) on reddit, and that is all the source where I find visitors. Until something changed - i saw in my analytics that somebody actually came from ChatGPT, and maybe that is one way to gain organic visitors? making my website somehow more visible to ChatGPT or anything like this?

The very purpose of improving authority is to outrank your competitors which will eventually get you organic traffic.

Google has EAT signals (expertise, authoritativeness, trustworthiness). If you serve these signals, you'll be considered better than your competitors. You can't just blindly build backlinks to outrank your competitors or to get traffic. The backlinks must improve your EAT signals.
