how risky is buying backlinks?

Hey BHW,

I had a few questions about buying backlinks, like how risky is it? I plan on reselling some SEO services locally but im unsure whether i should tell the clients they are botted backlinks. I hear you can get whacked pretty hard by google if youre caught, but how much is to much? What are good precautions to take when buying them? What is the limit (even a rough figure)? Thanks.

You seem to have missed a lot during your existence here. It's not just about the quantity, read the forum to understand.
 
I know there are different quality backlinks tier 1,2,ect. Still doesnt answer my question about a safe amount.

There is no safe amount, if all backlinks are quality and look natural, then nothing negative will happen, but if the paltry backlinks are bad then that might do harm, G is too sensitive. For the sake of safety, don't build too many links at the same time and take it slowly, because trying to give the viral effect requires social signals.
 
Build that amount what you can build manually and then you are in safe side. :)
 
There is no set rule for an amount. I mean, look at how Microsoft did Bing. But from your posts, I'd assume you're no Microsoft. Nobody can tell you an exact amount, though, I'd highly recommend you start small and progressively grow with more and more links. Depending on the size of the site, I'd say begin adding 10-100 links per day & grow that number by 10-1,000% each day-month. Again, nobody can tell you an exact amount, so you've got to "feel it", yourself. Just don't make 10,000 links when you only have 5 to begin with, and then not making any more for a month, then all of a sudden, you make 5,000 more links in one day, and then your site gets sandboxed and you make a new thread here, trying to find out why G punished you. The first guy told you correctly... Just read around here for a bit, before starting your colossal SEO conglomerate.

People around here are big on telling others to "take action", but I'm big on telling people to "get educated & then take action".

To the OP, there are a number of factors. Link velocity is one (how many new links pointing to the website in a short amount of time - also applies to how many 'high authority' links within a space of time), where those links point to on your site and how (what kind of anchor text is used), relevancy of the site pointing to yours with the bought links (in the same niche, for instance), whether they actually go directly to your site or a tier 1 scheme, whether the page has a high amount of outbound links and where those links point to - these are just a few factors you need to consider when defining risk.

But put it this way: insurance, forex, loans - the vast multitude of high ranking sites in these niches have bought links, many of them directly pointing to their site from a site with little to no relevance to the niche. The reason why many of those sites get away with it, as it were, is because they have developed decent authority already. A brand new site that suddenly gets a whole bunch of high authority links is immediately suspicious.

There's always risk when buying links - but you can manage it effectively with how you do it and, more importantly, how you scale it.
 
Its very very risky.
just few months back, certain type of links use to work, now they do not work. And currently working linktypes will work for how long, god only knows. Forget about working, those links can even harm your site rankings.
You will spend thousands on purchasing links, your site will rank and suddenly one more update and everything is gone.
So be very careful, most of the services in BST gives temporary boost to the site but do great harm in long term. So be very careful while choosing.
 
I agree. There shouldn't be any kind of "humilation" when it comes to asking questions. In the same time, it will be great if people would first read and than ask :)

Anyway, if you plan to sell everything under "SEO services" but you are not sharing with us important facts such as: domain age, current backlinks, how "hard" is to compete for that keyword, profile of the competitors,etc no one can give you a strict number as you want. If the niche is local you can be safe&sure with just 100-200 quality links.

Don't expect to sell with 200$ a 5$ gig and make in this way a long-lasting business :)

Well, im just trying to learn. and i've been up for two days, that might have added to my superfluous posting.
Anyways. Thanks, that makes a lot of sense. Do you know a thread off the top of your head that might help me familiarize myself between the differences of high quality and low quality backlinks? and social bookmarks?
 
First of all you must have to know that which type of links do you provide and its necessary for you to learn the benefits and effects of backlinks built by you for your client website...Just keep that thing in your that no more automated tool direct to money site or as tier 1, for tire try to get just quality contextual backlinks like guest posting, web 2.0s, private blogs links and high PR social bookmarking is also beneficial for money site. Congratz, you've just earned the retard status.

If newbies keep asking questions that are already answered and don't want to read then they will get humiliated.

He wanted to learn more then he better read, it's been said bazillion times that it's not about the amount, it's about the quality and there is no 'good' amount, common sense. Build links slowly and at a somewhat constant rate.
 
Thanks everyone, thats exactly what i needed to hear.

The plan is to do fiverr and BHW SEO reselling. Promote on a website that doesnt currently exist. Do some PPC, solo ads, organic seo, local ads in paper, cold calling, FB ads (maybe), baner ads on SEO sites/blogs.

Specifically i'll resell Social services,web 2.0 backlinks, blogroll links, mobile webistes, google reviews, article/PR submissions, logos, video intros and testimonials. Maybe i'm taking to much on for my first project, but thats the plan as of today.

These are blackhat forums. It's okay to buy links if you're careful and smart about how you do it.
 
no rules for that, it depends on many factors, u should learn from the basic what makes links safe or not and what kind of site is tougher than others, test test test...
