How Rewriting Articles Can Avoid Ranking Drops

The keyword rankings of several articles on my website have dropped severely, and the length of each of their content is only 1,000 words. I now need to rewrite the article to increase content length and relevance.

So when rewriting blog posts, to avoid further decline in the keyword ranking of the article, is it the best way not to change or delete all the content and paragraphs; Only add additional content and paragraphs to improve the length and relevance of the content . right?

Just use quillbot, it's the best thing possible for rewriting, they have an expansion mode for rewriting/paraphrasing text which basically makes your text lengthier

You should check why the new articles are out-ranking you.

It may be content but it also may be that the domain is stronger than you

Their content is longer, deeper, and more relevant than mine; in terms of backlinks, my articles have an advantage

It's trial and error... at times, you think you improved the article but it tanks.
Here's an example:

But for me... it's rare, most of the time my improved articles get better rankings.
What do I do with failed edits? I monitor for a week or two and then revert to the ranking version and come up with new edits.

I will test today by only adding 50% of the content and paragraphs, without modifying or deleting the original content, and submitting it to GSC. I will observe the effect in the next week.

That's why now, I keep a log of changes so when I see something strange, I go to my log and see what changes I've made.
You can apply different changes to different pages so you can run multiple tests at the same time.

Check your competitors, if their content is more better and lengthier than yours, then yes, do some edits and add more relevant content.

Add additional content. Why delete earlier content which you spent money on ?

Rewriting content typically leads to a reset of the ranking; the best way to avoid this is to add or replace more relevant keywords that align with the content of the article. To be completely re-indexed, it is advisable to change the title and meta description of the article.

If the content lacks substance (quality): you are free to delete, rewrite and add more quality content.

If the content lacks depth (quantity): add more original and quality content without deleting anything.
