I put effort into getting rid of Windows Media Player. WMP is a piece of shit. It's "bundled" into XP, supposedly so interwoven that it cannot be removed. Wrong. If you hate it bad enough, and are willing to take the time, you can cut it out like cancer.

Note, this is the same situation with Internet Explorer, also bundled into XP, that the European Courts forced Microsoft to remove from it's European versions. The Federal Government spent millions of taxpayer dollars suing Microsoft for being a monopoly, and failed to do anything about it, and now their Trademark Office will only use Microsoft's (the evil and illegal monopoloy) shitty media player.

I hate the government. Stupid, corrupt, inefficient and taxing us into slavery. Wish Americans had half the courage the Egyptians and Tunesians have.

Whew! I feel better. G'night all.

It is kind of annoying and I guess you can really get bent over it, or just work around it. I have both wmp and IE sitting there, but I never use them.

IE is currently using about 0.17% of the processor and 36k of ram, negligible.

WMP has no process running.

I use BS player for video and firefox (firehog).

On that note, the longer I leave FF running the more proc and ram it gobbles. Set it up for throttling and its constantly getting smacked down like a dog that can't learn.

WMP is a headache and nearly one that you just cannot get rid off...

As I mentioned, I did get rid of it. The point of the rant is that after I did so, the Federal Government requires that I reinstall it in order to get them to do their job.

Well I think it's more of a recommendation made to look like a requirement as they're WMV files. I just tried and can view them fine in VLC.

Ever since Chrome came about, my IE has been an exiled icon on my desktop. I had to load it up for a site that Chrome wasn't working with and dang its slow.
