I would like to know how reliable the Traffic % is in SEMRush when you look at the report.

For instant it says keyword X Volume 1900 Traffic % 20,00

Is that % what is going to my site from ADwords? or just an estimate?

none of that semrush data is accurate (might be close). I once downloaded a blogger's site data (traffic, keywords etc.) and I tried to put content aound those keywords. After few months I was ranking on many of those keywords and was getting long tail traffic too but not even close to him (like 25-30% traffic). Ofcourse he could be getting traffic from somewhere else but that data from semrush is never close.

Adwords data is reliable though. I should have matched both before working on that project. However this was just one project so can't tell you for sure.

Okay, that was actually what I was looking for. I have made the same thing with the long tail keywords and the sites are ranking pretty good for them but there is no close to the traffic that was indicated by SEMrush!

However, for this other project we are running massive ADwords (spending aprox $5000/month) and therefore want to monitor the traffic with other tools than Adwords itself. SEMRush pulled out lot's of stats for both organic and ADWords and there I saw these figures which compared to Google Adwords are different!

There is something more strange or at least I don't understand it at all.

There is a keyword it has estimated 5400 searches pr. month (volume) it says Traffic % is 38,88 <- What does this means? the traffic to my site or what?

    hope someone can explain.

Hey, these numbers are often calculated in the following way:

    Search Volume = 1000
    Your rank = position 1
Position 1 Click Through Rate (CTR) = 30%
    Your traffic = 30% of 1000 = 300 visits
    Competitors rank = position 2
    Position 2 CTR = 20%
    Competitors traffic = 20% of 1000 = 200 visits.

It all comes down to what they use as the CTR for the different positions. I assume SEMRush uses an average CTR for all keywords. Naturally CTR is different for each keyword and depends on a lot of things like number of ads at the top of the page, SERP features such as answer boxes or site links, branded search or not etc. etc.

I use SEMRush too and I use these figures to compare sites with each other and to see trends. The absolute numbers have little meaning, but they can tell you a bit more about how one site performs when compared to another.

SEMrush and anything else that has no access to your site are pure estimates. They estimate how much traffic you should get when you 're ranked X.
It can be accurate for some estimates and totally off for others. They do not scrape all long tails and unpopular terms. 7 figures in real adwords spend result in just 5 figure estaimets in Semrush.

So take it with a bucket to a grain of salt but it is just that, an estimate.

This made sense . And of course SemRush could not be highly accurate as these numbers are only estimate , but it's good to analysis things and come up with proper plan to rank our site as well as monetize it .
