How Readable Does Your Texted Need To Be In Backlinks?

Hey Everyone!

I think the title says it all... In your experience ( AFTER Panda / Penguin ) how readable do you think your texted needs in your backlinks need to be in order to rank?

I read where some do put unreadable articles on their sites and do OK. I wouldn't dream of doing such a thing. I suppose it boils down to whether your goal is long term or short term. If you aren't sure...test, test, test.
 
The text doesn't need to be readable, just unique and on topic.

I use auto generated content on tiers 2 and below and it indexes just fine when you throw a few links at it.

However for your tier 1 and money sites it's better to use high quality content (hand spinning with sentence alternatives) just in case Google gets slap happy in the future. All money site and tier 1 content should pass human moderation in my opinion.

Thanks Matt! This is pretty much what I was thinking.... Guess a small part of me what hoping someone would say that using spun on tier 1 would be fine... now I just need to figure out how to get all these articles!
 
I still use crap content on tier 1 but only for Wikis, bookmarks, etc. on my blog network I use 100% unique posts.

Agreed 100%. For tier I you can just write or scrape a high quality article and manually spin at the word, sentence, and perhaps even paragraph level. You can then use that article on all your Tier I properties. Do this with about 5 articles, and you've got yourself a solid farm of Tier I properties. Backlink those with what you've got, and you're golden :)
 
Google AI became smarter this year regarding spun content that it became very hard to keep badly spun content indexed for long. I would keep the content at tier 1 backlinks 100% unique for a long term ranking strategy.

I didn't say you couldnt use spun content on tier 1 - I said it should pass human moderation.

Here is how I spin my tier 1 content BY HAND (well my VA's do)

Write 15 alternative titles
For every sentence write 2 alternative sentences
Spin all of the words/phrases where it makes sense to do so
Spin in/out images
Spin in/out videos
Spin in/out contextual links to other sites
Move link placement around

If you to it to a specification like that, not only would it pass human moderation - a moderator could read 10 of these and think they were completly different articles with different images/videos/links etc etc

Google can not read that is the fact, but the chances of getting your back link deleted by the site administrator is high and the syndication aspect will be zero.

A lot of people seems to have forgotten the good all days where you submit content on a few sites and it will be picked up by other webmasters and giving you a link back in exchange.

I still find it extremely effective for SEO when i use quality and readable content, i simply get them on a few authority sites and it get's syndicated to many.
 
Ya.. I own a 200+ blog network myself. I only use unique content on it, because it would be a waste of money to have anything deindexed.

That being said, the content I use for wikis etc is total garbage and hot damn it works great.. Wee...

Completely agree. Keep everything white/grey hat in money site and tier 1; and blast the hell out your lower tiers.

Text readability algorithms have existed for a few years now. If you think Google doesn't or never will use them for SP*M context, then more power to you.
