So I'm about to start a new job making decent money, my plan is to parlay the money from this job into several different online income streams to create a 10,000-20,000 dollar a monthly online venture, which will then allow me to pursue larger opportunities.

I have a shiatload of ebooks to help me .. ..but some of them were written in 2005-06, and 07 .. . .knowing how fast things change online is a "how to make money doing . . ." course still valid if its more than a year old? let alone 2 years?

What do you think the cutoff time is? I check the date of production by looking at the document description when i open the pdf.

(i really wanna flip websites but . . ..its proving quite difficult)

The overarching ideals of well-written books don't change. As long as the ideas presented are still valid, you can always modify them for the modern era.

Not to say that I'm qualified to distinguish well-written from not, since I'm a newbie in this area myself, but isn't the ability to do just that at least partially hindsight-related? It's hard to distinguish good from bad without the experience to back it up...

That being said, you can definitely tell when somebody's put effort into something they've written. The approach I'm taking is to both run it past more experienced heads once my "common sense" filter rejects the poorly written ones, as well as little mini-experiments to see if anything merits investigation on a larger scale.

With good marketing, sales pitch and marketing you can sell just about any ebook.

    - Find your niche of ebooks
    - Put them into a new package (5+ products)
    - Hire a graphic designer to create a new ebox
    - Write a good sales/landing page
    - Put some kind of deadline when this great deal will expire (you can php or javascript code that will add 2+ days to the current date that makes it look like the deal is about to expire on the date thats 2 days away)

Its all about repackaging and rebranding

Staying within a niche is key. For example, you might want to create a package about Adsense. Dont just offer 6 Adsense ebooks for sale. Instead create some cheesy slogan like "The Adsense Exploder" and include 6 ebooks, plus an Adsense related software.

** NEW ** The Adsense Exploder Package

6 detailed money making guides for Adsense plus powerful software that will drive your profits through the FUCKING WALL!!!!

    Good luck r-webb-k.

The sad reality is you need the luck despite how good your concept may be. I plan to venture into something similar, but I only want the social networking to be a tiny twist to the idea but not what defines it. I'm sure you having thought about your concept, realized the enormity of the project and also that a few details can make or brake it all.

I have thought about all this to a great level but I'm not at the capital raising stage yet. My sincere blessing to you and if there is any detail or obstacle where you may want a 2nd opinion, give me a shout, I may have thought about it already.

I completely agree. There are a ton of generic sites out there and honestly, as horrible as MySpace/Facebook is, it really is the UI and the userbase that makes the difference in my opinion. With the big two, it's really hard to pin down any one feature (or lack thereof) that's the dealbreaker, and while a smaller site might have all of those features, they also lack the userbase behind it as well as the presence of something to distinguish it from the herd. I also have (fairly detailed) plans for one but I really want to learn how the SEO/blackhat thing works intimately before even starting with that.

With that said, I'd definitely be interested in helping you moderate even if it was just for the experience of seeing one go up. Feel free to drop me a PM if you're still looking, r-webb-k. Thanks and good luck!

The aging of info is a concern in any biz, online or off. One is best off structuring a business model with several profit centers that pay off short, medium and long term. Clearly, blackhat stuff should be considered the short term funnel, as it is the method facing the most active opposition. Then again, some past 'white hat' seo methods got designated as spammy with a single Google algo change.

Look over one's collection of ebooks and articles, and make the call as to which methods are the surest, long term bet to be a lasting foundation for a monetizing empire. Pure white hat will likely be the long term plan, blackhat for the short run cash, and regular SEO that's in the 'iffy' category should be either avoided, or given some black hat modifications to work in the medium term.
