LOL, the first computer I ever used was locked away in some back room and you had to access it from a terminal in the computer lab. Offline data storage was still accomplished with punch cards.lol

When I had my own BBS it was actually called "Belegost BBS" though, and ran the Wildcat BBS software on a 33mhz 386 with 4mb ram and a 60mb hard drive. The BBS only had one phoneline, but it was in almost constant use,(most BBSes were like that). I set the BBS up on my old 386 as a dedicated machine after I upgraded to a 486 for my primary PC. When I was actually about ready to start adding more phone lines for the BBS the internet became available which pretty much killed the BBSes. I do kind of miss the old BBS TradeWars game though. lol.
I had window3.1 because by that time a lot of software would only run under that, but I still preferred the command line and used dos most of the time. I was a die hard dos user and never really embraced windows until the pentiums and win95 came out.
Love this, Greywolf!!! My first computer ran only on 3.5's, my pop (bless his soul, lost him to cancer last year) introduced me to "Leisure Suit Larry" on floppies, my first (and only) computer class taught punch cards, and my first professional website was for a now closed restaurant in 1995...and here I am!
My birthday this weekend, and 44!!! Happy as a clam can be! :whee:

I actually remember when "Pong" and "Space Race" were hot new video games replacing pinball machines at fastfood restaurants, pizza parlors, skating rinks, etc. (I don't remember for sure but I think the first video games I played might have only cost a dime per play. I know that's how much the pinball games were.)
When "Asteroids" came out it pretty much cinched the deal. By the time games like "Frogger", "Space Invaders", "Missile Command", and "Pacman" came out we were pretty much hooked on 25cent per play video games. We could easily plug five or ten bucks worth of quarters into those games, and that was a lot of money at the time. (a double feature at the movie theater was just a couple bucks.) lol
Well the bulk of people filling out the poll in this thread seem to be between 19 and 30.
