22 here...damn I wish I could write 17 or 18 here... I`d be making some serious income by the time I am 22 (:

Just for laughs, what resolution did that tube have?
And the length of the screen diagonal?
Well I went all out and got the bigger 13" monitor. The PC had a CGA card so the max resolution was 640x200 but it could also display 320x200 if necessary. I also kicked in a bit extra to get the faster 1200baud modem so I could dial into the BBSes, and I maxed the PC memory out to the full 640k. I couldn't afford a harddrive though so I had to just use the 360k floppies for the first couple years I had it. Was glad to have two floppy drives so I could use one for the program disk and the other for data instead of having to swap disks so much. I was in heaven a couple years later when I got my first HD and I got a 30MB drive instead of a 10 or 20MB which were more common at the time. :cool2:

LOL! LOOOL!
OMG, my man. How the hell did you get anything done on that box?
Rep given for being able to:
just use the 360k floppies for the first couple years

Well one thing I was able to do was download a shitload of shareware and freeware games and apps from the bbses and save them on those floppies. Then I was able to re-archive and re-upload them with an order form text file people could print, fillout, and mail to me to order more at $5 per shareware packed floppy.

Those specs might seem funny today, but in 1984-86 it was actually a pretty decent computer. Adding the harddrive and upgrading to a 2400baud modem kept it useful for several years after that. I couldn't run windows, but back then who wanted to anyway, DOS was still king!!! lol.

Just like many here, I am still a university student. Yeah, we are a young bunch of wacky internet marketeers. Same as Abstroose; was into IM, then quit cuz of girls, then I wandered back into the world of IM

Windows for workgroups changed the world as we knew it.
I'm 50 on Saturday.
One thing that really stuck in my head was buying a 486DX and the guy telling
me it would be the last computer I would ever buy, they will never get faster then that.

I wonder if he's in the same job?

I still call forums bulletin boards.
