Depending on the kind of website you're running and what topics your posts and articles cover, you might have different needs as far as posting frequency is concerned.News websites, for instance, especially technology-centric ones, might have to employ a daily schedule, whereas personal websites can even afford to go with a single article a week or a month. What is your take on the matter? Do you prefer a 'the more, the better' philosophy or is a 'quality over quantity' policy more recommendable? How much do the topics a website addresses influence such a schedule?

Yes, the more the better. But because our website is an app page, that we don't have anything new to update daily or weekly even monthly until we release new features of our app.

There are many kinds, some affiliate sites or local medical sites for example nearly do no need any updating once they are set. Some believe google likes fresh content, but probably not for every single query, some are so-called evergreen and do not need much updating if any. In other words it is up to you.

Make an update when Google gives a penalty notice which the content of my website must change. Resubmit the changed/updated content to the google. Then I can update when I want to modify my page according to the new trend.

Keep in mind that the term "update" to Google can also mean changes to the code, images, tags, and pretty much anything else. Doing things like going back and adding an extra image to an old page can cause Google to re-crawl it and everything around it. I do that sometimes if rank/sales go flat.

My Google news sites get daily frequent updates and money site updated with 1 article a day.

If you've got a news / current affairs site = several times a day.

However if you're site is about an annual event , then once a week would be plenty.

If you're trying to be a large news site, maybe multiple updates a day is... reasonable, but for most money sites (especially e-commerce) that isn't realistic or even natural. It is hard to say what is the "right amount" of frequency, and if you are trying to guess you should simply observe what the successful competition is doing.
