Hi,

Some of you may know my site has been hit with a lot of spammy links, so I'm working through them to Disavow them.

So far, I have been updating my list multiple times a day, is this too much, should it be done every other day?

I have no idea and cannot seem to find an answer.

Thanks in advance.

Based on my experience:

NEVER use disavow file. NEVER.

This is my experience and I talk based on that. Other people can do the exact opposite.

Can I ask why? My site is falling like mad. I had around 3,000 links made last month to spammy sites which I had nothing to do with.

friendly advice: delete your disavow file and stop using it. only use it when you get a penalty in GSC.

over the last few years, google has done a pretty good job of ignoring shitty backlinks.

using a disavow tool is telling google that you are doing SEO, and big G does not like that. it has anti-seo algo in place to mess with you. same thing with going to GSC multiple times in a week to ask for indexing. stop that shit too

Exactly and I add: DO NOT USE analytics (ok for search console because you don't add any JS into your pages that sniff everything).

My approach is the same, google does not have to know that we're doing SEO.

G has to believe that we don't give a **** about SEO / traffic / positions / ....

While we're working under the radar in the underground......

Google has published that you should only use disavow if you have built links that could get you a penalty. Read what they say about it on their website. You’re telling them you’ve tried to manipulate their algorithm.

I only update it if i found really spammy, porn sites, or drug sites linking to my money site.
else, google already knows that the link is coming from spam site and does not credit your site.
I'm sure they will close this disavow tool soon, just like they closed geo-targeting.

If you find any spam links try to remove them on your own till you get any penalty from Google. In that case, you can submit your disavow list once in a month as Google takes months to recover it and reply.

You're right. Now the Google Algorithm is making smarter decisions on spammy and irrelevant links. They give no importance to those links which are not related to your website.

It depends on your choice usually try to update it on a monthly basis if your website is enormous then try to update it on a weekly basis as many of websites wants to link back to your site.
Yes, you are right brother updating disavow list is very important whenever you are going to update your backlinks details.
