Hi have a new site, and a massive list of keywords .. I have plenty of time on my hands, and could probably churn out several articles a day, but obviously I won't be adding that many per day ..

How many is a good amount?

1 per week? 2 per week? 10 per week?

I'm working on a new site right now too and I will be adding as many articles as I can. There is no set number as long as they are unique. Google loves new content.
Good Luck

As you are compiling the text then go with your momentum if one days output is ten posts and another day is three posts that is fine too - in other words write and post in your own unpressurized comfort zone - that way works best for me keeps my quality high:cool:

Personally I like to be free and flexible - quota and deadlines are not for me - what drives me is making money and I do that well when not under any pressure

I generally add 1 a day for the first 5 days of the sites life, and 1 a week from there onwards.

I usually post once at week at least! If you're social networking (Fb and Twitter) then it's a full time job!!

I try to blog post at least 3-5 times per day...there are days I slack off and add nothing, but the more you add the better...

I don't think you can really over do it on adding content to your site...I wish I could add more per day, but there is only so much I can do...

Don't sacrifice quality over quantity. Go for 3 - 5 high quality, high word count articles a week if you can. You don't have any readers, since a new website, right? Don't burn yourself out early on.

Looks like you are ready to invest a lot of time on this project - make it count. Great quality content jam packed with information to entice your readers and get them to subscribe, optin and come back.

Add as much content as you can...I add about 20,000 words per day spread over 10 or so blog posts...

I am in the process of building an authority site and this will take me many years to complete, but I will complete this eventually...ha...

That's pretty ambitious manny. Good for you - it makes me look lazy. Are you outsourcing your content?

I tend to add 1 high quality article per week per blog.

I think it depends of your niche. 2-3 times a week works for me.

Atleast one per week, that's what I did and Google loved it. In the beginning you can go add more often, google seem to love it.

I have been playing around with this and I think it depends on what you are trying to do. My main real life business blog got almost 2000 page views for a recent blog post. This was something I wrote after visiting a job site for someone who found us because we are like a boutique shop that outranks large companies that have been around 20+ years.

Or my other site is a pet project to just try to write to further my writings skills and that gets about 400 hits when I post a new one.

I am only trying to figure out ranking high and looking like I know what I am doing in my highly technical field. So I would say writing high quality real articles on the M$ is most important. Quantity does not matter.

Drip feed 1-2 articles a day and you will be fine. That way you are free to travel any time without the need being around you computer.

Honestly it depends on what type of website it is. If it's "news" related then I'd say at least once per day. If you're building out a small niche site (30 pages) then I'd probably go with 2-3 days. All depends on the site, heck if you can do it. Release content every day :P

QFT ^^^

Early on as many as you can

Depends on niche after that - but adding a couple a week from then on will keep your site "fresh" - add to that good offsite linking and "age" (which google also loves) then you will be on to a winner over time.

If you can write 5000 words a day to support say 10 big sites with 5 big posts each a week..you will be making a lot of cash if you picked good niches and monetize properly. Add videos and images as well (and promote those appropriately also)

Wish this is what I'd started in 1997 rather than mess about with crappy little adsense sites that Google can just destroy overnight. I'd have 5 or 10 MASSIVE authority sites by now (tens of thousands of articles, millions of words, hundreds of videos, gazillions of links and more monetization possibilities than I would know what to do with)

I reckon someone who had done that 15 years ago would be making maybe 10k a month from each easily by mow

If sites where to survive my consistent content then i would have given up on IM long ago.

How often you want to add content depends on you and your target audience.

Sites that drive majority of its traffic internally are able to do that because of the value and usefulness of information they offer. In this case, i recommend a week atleast.

I am doing right now a travel blog about a particular country and I am adding 1 per day and I think Google is ok with that as I am ranking for quite a lot search-terms and also my posts are getting indexed pretty fast, although my PR is 0.

We don't outsource our content writing, its all original content and is wrote by in-house writers and we have quite a few of them, so don't think I do that number of words all by myself...
