Just met up with an old friend I hadn't seen in ages and stopped for a Vodka after over a month of no drinking at all. Man it felt refreshing lol. In fact I ended up having 3 doubles :D

Not going to make it a habit though. The whole reason I quit was because even drinking once a week I felt had a knock on effect on work, and esp gym performance...
actually the real reason was because I swear I was so close to getting dumped when I went on holiday on a tropical polynesian island and open bars, including mini fridges with top liquor meant I ended up getting wasted more often than I should. Yes I was drinking like it was going out fashion lol sue me!
But yeah, I cut back a lot since then.

But I am just wondering how often / how much the wider community drinks and whether you feel it effects your work and productivity at all?

Just because you remind me back then. I am starting to drink 1 bottle of beer right now lol!

I drank, I smoke. Drinking Fireball right now.... Where the white women at?

I think people just replace one addiction with another, at least I do! So, when I switch it back to gummy bears Ill let you know too..

I drink about once a week, sometimes twice. If you drink enough that you actually get drunk and not just buzzed, it will definitely affect your performance. Not just for the next day, but for several days after as well, even if the hangover feeling is gone.

With that being said, drinking alcohol can be quite fun and some of your most enjoyable moments in life will probably be when you have some alcohol in your system. I don't really understand giving it up completely, unless you have a real addiction, or if you're striving to be extremely elite in your field (1% of the 1%).

maybe once or twice per month but just a little, every time in a while is not bad, just to relax, of course that need to be with a really good talk with friends not only drinking.

I drink occasionally when I am with friends or celebrating.

Very rarely because I hate hangovers and I have the type of addictive personality whereby if I drink 1 beer I’ll end up having 10 more and then get hooked on drinking it every day. So I’d rather abscond completely.

only in events, like weddings, parties, and birthdays.
can be once in 2 weeks

I used to drink a few times a month. Social drinking.

I've since sworn off alcohol COMPLETELY and it's been around 15 to 20 years since I've touched alcohol.

I'll still handle alcohol for COOKING PURPOSES but other than that, I avoid it.

Same goes with cigarettes and recreational drugs.

Not anymore, quit drinking and smoking since 2019 and i feel much much better now.

10 years from now? There's an extremely high chance they already do this. It's just not on an individual level because they don't know who is whom on forums.

Most companies do some sort of sentiment analysis. Insurance has always done it in a broad fashion, keeping an eye on things like zip codes where people drink more. It's the reason why your car insurance has different rates based on area, they know which areas result in more crashes and compensate for this with higher premiums.

Frankly what surprises me is that the tech insurance companies haven't caught on. Like the ones who insure phones, they could mandate you install an app in order to be covered. Said app would track location and adjust your rates based on the probability of you damaging the device. That they charge a fixed rate no matter location, person age, sex, etc. blows my damn mind.

Used to get piss drunk daily when I lived in Korea, clubbing everyday, fucking around in the sharehouse. Was a good time but I felt unproductive to the point I had to stop.

I haven't "drank" in a few years now.

But if I do, it better be beer. :D
