Depends, if you are helping out and wanting to keep costs down then $50 would be your line, you can also do some free logos for non-profits and churches or whatever else can use it and with that, they can bring in more business. As a freelancer you should charge $100 as a base and $400 for a good logo. If you are doing corporate building to an existing profitable business then you are changing the method as you are now selling the logo and its rights, for that you can charge into the thousands, I have seen a $9,000 pay check from it myself but be prepared to make tweaks and alterations and things that would be on the "professional designer" table.
To sum up, price is as low and high as your market would allow, check out what others are offering as well as who your clients are. One fun thing when dealing with a higher end client is to ask them, what are they willing to pay, because a lot of times you will get a number way higher than what you were thinking.
