Hello

I am dealing with someone about a theme for website. The theme is full width. The dude is saying making the theme full width is a lot money. Like the amount of money is saying is ridiculous. I can tell this guy is trying to give me the run around. I know it's more money obviously I just need an estimate.

How much would you charge for a full width theme?

Thanks.

Full width in a fixed size or full width as in it will work on any resolution ?

If it is for a fixed size I would say the price would be the same of a normal width size, however a full width for any resolution would be indeed more expensive not stupidly more expensive, will just cost more.

Why ? a full width for any resolution needs special images that will fit all the scenarios, need different css/html and in some cases different extra coding to the php or scripting language in use.

If you are using a CMS that would cut the costs a lot as it would bring it down to mainly the design of the site + arranges of css/html and maybe a plugin to make it all work out.

Fictional example, a guy charges you 300USD for a theme, and 400USD (100USD extra for the any resolution) for a any resolution of the same theme(just the design), depending on the changes it has to be done on the images could be cheaper or more expensive, for instance a image having to be completly reworked or the language being used need to rewriten to accept mobile devices.

Not to count cross combatibility on browsers, devices and all of your target.

I am not a designer so what I am saying here is based on my point of view as a developer.

Wow.

Greatly detailed accurate answer. Thank you.

Glad it was of help to you, still an incomplete answer but I guess the price will vary depending on the contractor. Some people are starting and do cheaper prices to get known or promotions while others are welll established and have their own pricing schema which was why I just gave you a fictional example of how it would cost.
