How much to get payed for making WP website?

Yousef has it right on the timing - about 15 hours worth of work to do it right.

This is essentially one of my basic packages and I charge $1500 for it. 15 hours of work, $100 an hour.

And if you're curious on geography I'm in the US and live in the midwest - most of my clients are in Chicago, but I sell the same stuff all the time in Michigan and the economy is shit there. It's all about demonstrating success and selling the value.

To those of you who have posted that you'll do all of this for a couple hundred bucks: if you've got some decent demos of packages like this that you've done then I'll gladly outsource this stuff to you. Drop me a PM.

Wow simply outrageous prices for WP sites... I need to jump on the money wagon with everyone because I normally charge between $50-150 for WordPress along with customization, logo, plugin adds, ad placement.

I agree with around a $1,000. I found out something early in the business ... never ever give your work away for free and if you are to cheap, your work will not be appreciated! Just learn to be flexible. Give your client extra incentive to close the deal, at the price you set. Add value, don't lower the fee.

i think something around 300-500 works well depending on ur client

300 or 400 dollars for your packages, including SEO? PM me guys I have a lot of work for you to do. :)

I Do it for 800$-1000$ , with An awesome LOGO

A premium theme as your wish. and Other content and updating to certain extent.

My god where do you guys find clients? I would do it for $200 to $300 IF I had lots of clients.

WP Theme = 5 minutes to upload
Logo = $30.00 outsourced
SEO = Keyword stuffing/Alt tags/Scrapebox/Directory Submissions (Can outsource on Fiverr for $30.00)
Social Media Accounts = 10 minutes to register and set up profiles.

Cant see how this take 15 hours and costs more than $300.00.

It really depends on the market you access.
A lot of offline businesses and inexperienced marketers will pay around $1k if you can "sell" them on the value you are offering.
This is because they aren't connected to things like odesk and freelance sites and have no idea how to navigate them.
In this huge world of websites, I have seen sites that kick the heck out of mine that were designed for like $200 or less by very experienced designers.
And I have gotten over $1k regularly.
This is because I RUN from clients that are savvy with outsourcing because they will beat down your pricing.
Find sh*tty sites and make them an offer!
A lot of non-web savvy people use these wysiwyg and out-of-the-box editors that make their sites look horrible and out-of-date..
They might welcome your guidance!

My quotes:

  1. making WP website --- $20 (including 40-50 plugins and their fine tuning-settings)
  2. creating a unique theme $10
  3. designing logo $10-$100
  4. making fb, twitter, statusnet accounts included with option 1 (making wp website)
  5. simple SEO included with option 1 (making wp website)
  6. backlinking (a real and different approach) - $20
  7. training the client - $20-$50
So if we leave logo design and client training aside, I do it for $30 (including a unique theme). If above average seo and backlinking process is also required, then the total price will be $50.

One major drawback -- I never do this for one site. Minimum 20. And my approach -- if my client is not happy, he gets a full refund.:)

You can do it for $800 to $1000. As it involves SEO and FB & YT accounts making also.

I charge anywhere from $800 to $1250.. integrating ecommerce plugin can get you $2300. Have a nice portfolio and website and your work will be appreciated and paid for.

i think around $200 to $ 250 is sufficient for a word press website. if guys are charging $ 400 to $ 800. its really amazing and very much surprised that the client is paying $ 400 to $ 800 for WP website.

$800 for a 'custom' wp site is fair enough.

but $800 to edit a basic wp theme and change it's logo / color scheme is way too high IMO.

Wow impressive that's like 150% more than what is normal here. Gotta sell and up the market you guys.

The BlackHand put it best. The amount you can charge very much depends on the *value* you can sell to the client.

And the irony is that the clients with 'just enough knowledge to be dangerous' are the ones who want to beat down your price, *and* are also the ones who are most demanding.

A client making money is too busy to care with 'slight' modifications that take forever. They will just take a look at the site when it is done, and if it looks alright, will be happy. If you can provide them extras that make them feel good, like analytics and SEO reports, then even better.

Cheap clients should be avoided, and one should never be too afraid to turn down work. You are better off spending the time you would have been servicing the problem clients doing business development instead.

I've charged as much as $4,000 for a wordpress site. Its all about finding the right clients.

I agree with everyone, and just never tell them it is a template lol :D as i've lost one of them when he knew that.

I charge $1000 for offline clients, and my friend charges around $2000 for the same work D:

Depends on what needs to be done..complexity...etc.

Anywhere from $500 to $3k for the theme + $50 per hr for addtl services
