I'm in contact with a bankruptcy lawyer and I don't really know how much to charge him. We are in a fairly large city about 200k population. The searches for this particular lawyer with exact match for the terms we are looking at combined get about 1250-1500 searches a month. I can reasonably expect between 250 and 300 searches if I can achieve #1 ranking for these keywords. COmpetitions is pretty stiff all having around 20k backlinks so its going to take a few months but what would be a good price to charge the lawyer. $1500+? I'm sure he's going to make 5-10x time that one we achieve top raknings. What do you guys think?

want to know suggestions too. recently, I did a project for a lawyer, it is for marketing and getting leads using public domain info. then I found he does nto have a website. then foud out that he is using yellow page for his website.
somehow, I get him interested in making a website and seo service. but not sure how much I should ask for.
p.s. he loves the result of the project, so I guess he believe whatever I said. I want to keep it as a monthly contract kind of thing, but I do not want to under or over charge too much.

in my case, $1500/month is, well, I guess, impossible. but I could setup a domain/phone #, then charge for leads. maybe a better way.

Try to make 1 year deal with him with like 300$ month which includes SEO + maintaining the site.

I say, charge him $500/month now, then once you reach top 3 raise it to $1500/month when you get #1 raise it to $3000 it will be worth it for him.
here is how I see it. The cpc is $30 so if i get 300 hits thats a $9000 value that I'm letting go for $1500-$3000. I'll make money, the lawyer is getting great value and everyone is happy. To me it sounds good, but is my logic flawed?

First, find out how much the lifetime value of the average customer for your client is.
Second, estimate how many clients you can get per month and take a percentage of that.
If your seo efforts are bringing 100 visitors a month, and on average that's translating into 10 leads for your client, that could be earning them tens of thousands of dollars and you're worried about charging 3 digits?
Come on people, grow some balls and realize the extreme value your services provide.

I think no matter what you think, it is what "they" think can justify the price for them. usually, they will check how many leads become customers, then justtify the price. at least this is true for most of my clients. they are not in legal serviec though.

Well, personally what i would do is charging for a XXXX$ 3 months period, with the guarantee of ranking improvement.
50% up front 50 at the end of the contract if there is an evolution. Otherwise, he doesn't have to pay.
At the end of the 3 months if he wants to keep ranking he can take another 3 months period.
This is a great deal for both parts.

tell him at least 6,000 a month and if he doenst want your services than you are going to create a site on your own for all of his KW's rank it at the top of the search results and tell him you will be selling the leads to all of his competitors if he doesnt want your services sooo....what will it be... I think that way you win either way because the average seo wont step foot in here and has no F******* idea what the hell they are doing. Than again I dont know your background but Im sure you could do it.

It is so true. We think that people know this stuff but they do not. I even know a guy with a PHD in computer science who thinks that SEO is a myth and that it is only done by "underground hooligans".
