How much should I charge??

Well thanks to BHW I have started my own web design/SEO business while still in college. I had a few projects here and there since opening last month. But next thing I know, I now have a financial firm on wall street calling me to make them sites on a regular basis.

They were pretty serious when I talked on the phone to them. One guy interviewed me and really liked what I told him, so he passed it on to the "big boss" and supposedly I am having a final interview with him today.

They want me to make them sites, but if I am already technically hired to be their SEO/website guy, I don't know how much I should charge for each. It is easy to determine this on a per project basis with random other clients, but I want to charge a juicy rate without turning them off if you get what I mean.

Each site will be four pages and include some custom ad formatting. That is all I will have to be responsible for as the content will be given to me.

if each site is only 4 pages then it wont take you long for each site. Will all these projects included seo services in the price? or are they additional "extras"

Would recommend around $300 - $400 per site, but with SEO, add an additional monthly fee of $250 per 3 keywords which is paid on a monthly direct debit agreement
 
Google around for some similar projects and what it costs, and just ask the firm what they are paying to hire you. Asking that will already give you half of the answer :)

Well they are clueless as far as SEO goes. All they know is that it is good and they would like to have me possible help them with it.

I would be charging for the site and then if they wanted SEO, I would do a contract separately down the road.

The sites will have:

4 pages (1st page blog, 2-3 content, 4th contact us)
Custom header/logo
Custom ads placed on sidebar. 5-6 of them
Disclaimer and other info in footer
And then just the basic sprucing up, tweaking the design
 
HM some company on wallstreet at least 300, maybe 500. If they like you they probably won't look around much and most offline webdesigners overcharge to start with
 
I would probably be looking to charge more than 500. It's one thing if you are applying for job, it's another if they want YOU.

If they want you, then you need to figure out what you need to make to be happy about it. If 300 is good for you do it if not charge more. Peace.
 
If they're on Wall Street then they have money to spend, so I'd charge probably $500 or more for each site. Are you making the logos yourself, btw?

You should be confident but also humble, i would ask 400-450$ for a month + if you have some extra services to give them, then offer those and add to price :)
 
$500 per site and then $400 per month to maintain sites and SEO position.
 
I charge 1.6k monthly from one of my customer, what I offer: Full SEO Service (all important keywords), Homepage hosting, creating, content writing, Full time support... that's a win win situation for both ;)

So my advise for you: Don't be cheap!
 
Okay I think I have the site down. He just wants an estimate for SEO. Would $400/month be for one keyword? This is my first official SEO job so how do I maintain the positioning and contract being that Google can be so unpredictable?
 
If this really is a wall street company and they are looking to hire a clueless novice they are obviously looking to do this on the cheap for some reason.

How you can ascertain that 300$ will be enough or too little i don't know :confused:

What phrases are they? Are you using any of that 300 to buy links or are you billing them extra for link purchase?
