I'm trying to make some money on fiverr, so how much should I write for $5?

You should offer 350-450 words for $5, and you will probably get some good amount of customers.

Thanks for the tip.

Will I have to advertise my gig, or is just posting my gig and waiting for customers enough?

I know your not offering your service here, but I'd like to see your work.

I frequently need articles 500 to 1000 words

I actually don't have any examples of my work yet, which is why I'm not selling on fiverr or Black Hat World yet.

I still need some practice... I don't want to piss off any customers by writing up articles that they could have written themselves. :)

You COULD charge $5 per 500 words, as that is not a terrible rate, and would attract a lot of people.

You can do SEO to fiverr just like any other site, but you should get responses without having to do that.

Let me know how it goes man, and good luck!

Thanks, I just made a gig last night and I have gotten 39 views (but no buyers). Hopefully I'll get at least one customer...

You will start getting them, just be patient.

And then do well with that one, and when the review hits, it will lead to 2 more.

Good luck sir.
