How much should I charge per email sent?

Hi everyone,

I have a client who asked me for a quote for the following services. Any ideas how much I should charge him?
I have to:
- find email addresses of businesses in a particular area of the town,
- send a cold email (the email content is provided).

Should I charge per email sent or per hour of my work?
I don't know how many emails of businesses I will find in his area. Should I do the search manually or try to scrape a directory?

I will be grateful for any ideas.

You can charge him a fixed one time fee (setup fee) of $200-300. And tell him you won't charge per email sent but per positive response received.

This is a warm lead. So you can charge higher for warm lead. Find out how much money the client will make from each lead that converts into a sale. And then charge a percentage of that amount.

Example: If one of the prospects replies after your email campaign and after your client closes a deal with him, he earns $500, then you can charge 1% of this amount as "cost per lead".

I use this calculation for my lead generation projects on Upwork. This is a "heads I win, tails I win big" kind of approach to lead generation and email marketing. When client asks "how much per email sent" and you give him a number, you risk as coming across as too greedy if the email list is huge. By charging a setup fee you make some small amount of upfront money and charging for leads will get you the higher rewards.

I have a question: how do you know your client has made a sale from the emails you sent? My client provides cleaning services and wants emails to be sent to companies in his area. I can only hope he will tell me he has closed the deal to get the potential 1%.

No no. I mean, you need to find out the market rate for his services to the customers. In this case, you can find it from his website if he has listed the rates, or simply ask him what is his average ticket size per sale.
