How much should a beginner expect to spend?

Zero backlinks/paid ads at the start, full stop - with a brand new site n limited budget, put every damn dollar into on-page/technical foundation first, bc buildin links or runnin ads to a site w/ no foundation is literally pourin water into a bucket w/ holes in it, backlinks only start payin off once u actually got somethin worth linkin to

I would prioritize posting high quality content and doing proper internal linking. You can get good guest posts from other website owners relevant to your niche. These can either be free (if you deliver tremendous value) or paid.
 
Instead of waiting when the pages (website) will start getting traffic from google search (or other search engines), just start manually creating comments/posts on website like "Linkedin, Reddit, Quora" and tens/hundreds of smaller platforms that you can find a list just by asking chatgpt for it.

You will get instant traffic and do not rely on google search that can wipe your website in one minor update.

In today's SEO nothing is guaranteed, even if you do it ideally, so better focus on posting with your active URL on different platforms, in long term it will work as super trusty backlinks.
 
Its all on the purpose of the website. Is it a blog or any business website or ecom site?

If its a blog, then you don't have to invest much on the initial days. Once your blog contents start to see some growth and rank for keywords, then you can consider buying backlinks for the same

If its a business website or ecom site then I would recommend you to start building backlinks from 2nd month once every basic SEO has been done. But start with less investment, then increase gradually
 
I would jump first into technical SEO, then do keyword research, then make useful content before I go heavy on spending. I would not get backlinks right away though, once there is content that actually helps people, then I’d craft a handful of links that are relevant and decent, not a big pile. I’d also keep paid ads off the table initially, unless the website already converts. A budget around $50 to $150 per month should be enough to begin and verify what performs.

If I had a small budget, I would concentrate on good content and basic search engine optimiztion techniques and figure out what works before purchasing any backlinks. In my opinion, advertisements would be a better way to test the deman,while backlinks would be more appropriate after that.
 
Keep your wallet closed for now. As someone who deals with link building and programmatic campaigns every day, I can tell you buying backlinks or ads before you actually know what you're doing is a great way to torch your money.

Your budget at the start should basically be zero. Put your time in instead. Focus purely on your on page basics. Get a clean site structure going, figure out what your audience is actually searching for, and write content that answers those questions straight up.

Once your site starts pulling in some natural traffic and you can see what's actually working, that's when you look into guest posting and scaling up your links. Until then just keep your head down and build a solid foundation first.
 
Don't waste money early skip backlinks & ads at the start inves $xx to $xxx in domain, hosting & tools, then focus on solid content, keyword targeting & basic on-page seo add links & ads only after you see traction
 
As a beginner, I’d keep costs low and focus on useful content, basic technical SEO, and keyword research first. Test small before buying backlinks or ads, and track results carefully.
 
I’d start with solid on page SEO, useful content and a few relevant, quality backlinks rather than dumping money into links right away.

Skip paid ads initially unless you need immediate traffic test, track then scale what actually works.
