how much ($SEO) should I spend on this project?

Hi there,

I need a bit of advice from you guru's.
I'm helping my wife build up her cooking blog which has some really good content. Every week she creates posts with pictures and recipes, and keyword searches for those are great too.
I thought if I can do SEO on most of her blog posts, then I can help pull in quite a bit of traffic as every blog post she makes can target keywords with 8k+ exact searches a month.

Problem is, I don't have the time to be fiddling with SEO as I have a full time job, so perhaps buying SEO services might be the best approach...

Based on this project, how much do you think I should be spending on SEO per month? Are there any mid tier reliable SEO services which you have used in the past that you can recommend?

you really need to grab something like UNF (ultimate niche finder) and take a look at it. I am not sure about some terms, but most cooking terms have a HUGE competition, and are very hard to rank for.

Using something like UNF, you can find the easier to rank terms, and focus on SEO for them.

Really depends on the type of cooking blog...a diet recipe blog would be much more difficult to rank than a Jamaican recipe blog, for example. But you said 8k+ exact monthly, which is fairly competitive.

I ranked my first ever 9k exact search website in a year when I first started with SEO with a shit ton of manual work, but now I can do it in just a handful of months, but it requires consistent, quality SEO. I'm sure you could do it with a combination of services on the forum, but I couldn't tell you which. My company would likely quote you $1500-2500/month depending on the full keyword list, so you can use that as a starting point and work down from there (I imagine).

I mean, unless you have that kind of budget, then give me a call.

I've done some competition analysis and it seems ok

averaging 8k-10k exact searches with low competition (I've run this through Market Samurai).

I'm just not sure how I should be approaching SEO

I'd suggest you hire a firm if you don't have time to do the work yourself.

It would require a lot of expertise to coordinate freelancers as well.
