How much search volume should a niche have?

If I'm considering going after an uncommon niche, how much search volume should the niche have to make it a viable niche?

Obviously this would partly depend on how lucrative the niche is and how much each visitor is potentially worth. But to create a typical blog around a niche where most people will be readers and only a small percentage will turn into conversions, how do I know if a niche has enough search volume?

Pick a unique topic that enough people are interested in, so your blog gets attention. Make sure it's a good fit for your readers and has potential to bring in business.
 
In the beginning you can take your search volume above 1k to create a blog and for that you can use semrush,Ahrefs ETC.
 
Upon Everything , the niche should be relevant to your target audience and then you can use tools like Ahref, semrush ,

keyword planner to choose the keywords with high Search Volume and low competition....

Look for keywords that have a high search volume and a low keyword difficulty, as they indicate a high demand and a low competition for your niche. A good range to aim for is between 1,000 and 10,000 monthly searches.
 
Search for main keywords in niches that you are considering, reverse engineer top ranking sites to see for which keywords those sites rank and you’ll see their volumes and if anyone has already made it a viable business. This way you’ll get a feeling of what is possible. You can do this with free Ahrefs tools.
 
In my opinion for a niche blog where most readers won't convert, aim for a few thousand searches monthly to ensure interest. But you have to remember, profitability also depends on how engaged your audience is and how well you monetize. Research thoroughly to measure niche viability beyond search volume.
