How Much Ram Should I Put in My Virtual Machine?

I am installing virtual box on my window

I will use it for anonymous web browsing and nothing else.

I will also install ccleaner on the VM

The total Amount is 2 GB.

How much ram should I put on the VM?

Which version of window is the best?

Is linux a better option for anonymity web browsing?

Why are you installing a VM for anonymous browsing? That won't do anything. You need to route all your internet traffic through a different ip. Try HideMyAss Pro. But for a VM you need AT LEAST 2 gig of ram...4 gb is will make it somewhat bareable.
 
It's nice to have a VM setup for this purpose so you can have different proxy settings, and you don't have to worry about wiping out your own cookies. But you can accomplish the same thing by using two different browsers or firefox profiles. But yeah the VM won't make you anonymous by itself, you need a proxy.

Because of the flash cookie and all other tracking bullshit google use.
I already have private proxies, I just need to secure myself against other tracking means.

Do you mean 2 GB on the VM? I meant 2GB as in my whole Computer have 2 GB.
 
Just fire up a new profile in firefox. Or use "private browsing" -- Safari and Firefox both have this. And use hmapro. I created a new account on my computer for doing screencasts that go up on youtube...I didnt' want my history or any personal info on my desktop showing up in public videos. I don't know why you'd bother with a VM, it's much much slower.

Did you have any problem with flash cookies?
 
Actually, just right-click on any flash object you see and have a scroll through the tabs. You can prevent any information from being stored. I advise to click the "don't ask again" button though.

Also, I don't think your VM is going to work out, nor do you need it if you want just one other account. Have a look at Mint though, they have a live cd. :D

I don't really care about cookies if I'm using a brand new profile. I'll never log into my personal accounts when I'm logged in as this anonymous user.

I wasn't asking you what it was, I was more or less saying I don't care about cookies. flash or otherwise if I am not using my personal accounts on a new user account on my computer, and use hma pro to cover my ip...then it's all good. They can push whatever cookies they want at me, it won't identify me.

Actually, flash cookies is shared if you use the same computer.

For example, if you browse a website using firefox, and they create a flash cookies on your computer, then later, even if you use other browser or other user profile, they can still identify you using the flash cookie.

They are a huge threat to anonymity.
 
if flash put it there...it can't put it there if it's disabled. just an educated guess. I've never heard of LSO before now. So don't take my word for it.
 
If it's just for anonymous web browsing like you said, then I think you don't need much ram for the virtual machine. I, myself, allocated only 512MB ram out of 8GB in my computer and installed a VPN in there. It's better to install the virual disk on another HDD, if you got one. It's even much better if that HDD is an SSD drive :)
 
why all the precautions? I mean what are you doing where you need to worry about this much anonymity?
