Hey BHW,

as most newbies i think i also try out many things and this inlcudes the basic aliexpress dropshipping...
Well first of all i made a shop in the watch niche with basic free + shipping and i made some sales but never got a positive roas from it.

Now half year later i try a different approach with a niche where there are almost no other shops and also on amazon and ebay there arent many shops selling this stuff. The only problem with this is that i dont know if the niche is just too small or is not interesting.

I made some basic KW research before starting the shop and tbh there was almost no organic traffic but as i am a fan myself in this niche i thought - maybe no one searches for it because no one knows that something like this exists.

My Question: I would like to hear your opinion how to identify if a niche is just not interesting or if it has potential.
My FB Ads statistic are: PPC about 0,15$ for UK, US, Canada
in total i had about 1000 store sessions between 15.3 and 31.3 - 25 Add to cart - 8 Checkouts but no sales ?

Thanks for your help :)

Dropshipping is one of the tougehst niches to get into very saturated to begin with

Thanks for your replies.
@CPABeyond yeah i know it is really though but isnt it everything about the niche ? Thats why i asked if there is some way to clearly tell if a niche has potential or if you just need to test it.

I would say try Women products such as beauty , makeup, bags, shoes, watches etc.,
and small promotion can kick start your business
i have seen my friend site and already got sales within few weeks ..

good luck

Hey @xcodes , i also tried the watch niche and also got some sales with basic Free + Shipping. I think that this niche has giants like Zalando, About you and many more and that almost everyone starts with the beauty and clothing niche. What do you think?

Any season profitable niches would be always
1) Health
2) Women Products
3) Fitness
4) Watches , Shoes, Electronics

you just need small kick start traffic everything will be good and smooth going for longer period.
i brought the store from HostDel Company its based on aliexpress

I'm in a similar position and I'm not too sure whether the niche has potential or not. I can't advise you on whether it's good or not but I can suggest doing what I'm doing which is just... doing it. You don't know until you try, owning a successful online business WILL take you at least 5 failed ideas/websites. Every fail is a step towards your success.

I totally agree on that but i have seen my friends stores and their stats Women niche is always best for sure success.
And electronics niche too.

just make sure your store is well built and different payment gateways .

Most unpopular niches never get into mainstream until an e-commerce giant like Amazon or ebay list them. You should understand the category of your niche among following:

* interesting and popular - there will be too much competition, not recommended unless you have huge investment
* interesting but not popular - this is a goldmine if you can promote and have marketing skills
* not interesting but popular - this is sold purely on marketing and offers, not good for newbies
* neither interesting nor popular - stay away

Think about where your niche falls and act accordingly.

@Boosts thanks for your reply. I agree standind up and doing your thing is the most important part. Wish you all the best with your journey!

@Pavan Teja 1 Could you or give me an example for the difference of interesting and popularity. You mean interesting for potential buyers and popular among sellers ?

interesting = Target audience find the niche interesting. These are items associated with hobbies or interests of users.
For example, movies and sports are interesting for many people. This is a broad classification and niches could vary a lot. For example, they may show interest in T-shirts printed with film or sports themes. Or even keychains or paper weights with film characters. You don't need to heavily promote them as the users can instantly identify the objects because of their association with interesting fields. You can sell them even if users don't need them. The target audience play a key role in such niches. If you want to sell guardians of the galaxy themed T-shirts, then you should promote them in Marvel fan pages and movie review sites for more conversions.

popular = The niche is popular among both buyers and sellers. These are general items that popup in Google searches.
For example, laptops, home appliances, kids toys etc. Here, brand and trustworthiness plays a key role. You need not have to introduce the items as they are popular and the users exactly know what they want. You can't just start a store for selling laptops and expect sales from a not so popular brand. If someone wants to purchase a laptop, they will look for Dell, HP, Lenovo etc. Even if you sell something of better quality, the chances of becoming successful are slim.

Well in my opinion my niche is quite interesting (anime sub niche) because anime in general gains much more popularity in the last year. And as i said there arent many other dropshippers or other shops that sell this niche

Be careful with copyright stuff. Shopify will shut you down if you get any infringement notices.

Also the market needs to be big enough for people daily to show up. Are you going to keep growing with the site gets bigger?
