How much pingomatic is too much pingomatic?

Interesting question: Client has a site with more pages than the Manhattan phone book. Each one has unique content. How far in should we go in the pingomatic submissions? Page by page, or are just some of the salient highlight and category pages enough? Page by page would have to be automated as we won't be done by Dec. 21 2012 and the world is gonna end by then so it won't do any good!

create xml sitemap and submit to google webmaster tools. Create html sitemap with max 100 links per page, and linking to the xml sitemap on each page. Ping the shit out of the html sitemap and build some social bookmarking backlinks to it as well.
