Whats up BlackHatters i've been researching learning and getting into IM for quite sometime now. Im getting a hang of it and i have had a lot of help from all of you..

My question is How much is TOO much competition for a newb. As in the SERPs in google... Whether my keyword is in quotes, allintitle: or alllinurl: What would be too much competition to rank number one... And how long will it take to rank number 1 with 115,000 in serps with keyword in quotes. Thanks in advance

Just deleted some bullshit I wrote that could mislead people.

You can also try Market Samurai, somewhere on BHW is explained how to get it for free. I would post you a link, but am still not allowed to. Just type market samurai into the searchbox. ;)

I use google KWT and i search in [Exact] searches but after i find the [exact] keyword i check it in google and check my competition.. So how much is too much ?? if i want to rank number 1 in google for a keyword doing basic and intermediate SEO in about 2 - 3 weeks?

Christ..... When do people realise that Google Keyword Tool doesn't tell you anything about the competition unless you're planning on doing ADWORDS! If you want to beat them with SEO you have to use Traffic Travis, Market Samurai or one that does the same thing.

i don't check comp with GKT..

Hi, Defiantly don't use google keywords tool for competition. I would say anything under 100 searching in Allintitle: google search is fine. If you have no experience would look for under 10 searches and work your way up with experience.
In reality there is no competition requirement. It is more of a ratio of how many searches a month to how much competition. For example if you have a keyword that has 100k Local Searches a month and the competition allintitle: is around 200 it is very profitable. So there is no limitations really. Also just because there is lets say 20 allintitle: searchers doesn't mean that one of the 20 isn't a EMD that has good strong backlinks. Always search your top competition for regular google search without quotes.

To reach your goal, you need to create your own word that doesn't exist and get your website indexed. Other than that it will be too competitive for you.

Doesn't matter. My search phrase for the brand no quotes is 715,000,000. 5 Year old exact match domain, added 15 content articles, did on-page SEO and it's ranking #1 with quotes, #2 without quotes in just 3 days. Keep in mind the site has 0, ZERO backlinks (Only Facebook, Twitter, Google+ profiles). It all depends on the competition's website profile things such as domain age, links, content, on-page optimization, loading times, etc, etc.

First thing to do is ditch all off those tools. Manually check on google what the search results are.

If you look for your keyword on Google and find you still have Amazon/ebay/wiki etc on page 3 then theres too much competition. If you search for your keyword and see a couple of shitty websites that look takeable in the top 6 then maybe you have a chance.

The tools are only really there to help use your curiosity to investigate a niche

Thank you, definitely learned something today. First I used GKT, that's some people recommend as a tool to assess competition, too. Now I use Market Samurai, but still thought that GKT was good.

Cheers to you, mate! :)

Don't assess your competition by simply Googling for your keyword. Use Google Keyword Tool to assess competition. First of all, check out the number of EXACT searches per month, check out CPC. I won't tell you exact numbers, because I don't know them myself, but I can assure you that GKT is the tool you should start with, should you not have money for a paid tool.

OP, do NOT listen to this guy, he has absolutely NO idea what he's talking about. If you'd like to assess the competition then you should use your brain and check the top 10 positions. See how good their on-page optimization is, as it's a crucial element in ranking, it denotes how relevant the page is. If some of them haven't got phrase match of the keyword in their optimization then it's easier to crack. Other factors are backlinks, check them so that they don't have too many authority, EDU, GOV and unique domain backlinks.

Still backlinks are can be devalued by the algorithm so don't go all crazy about it. Have good optimization, don't overdo it. Some QUALITY backlinks, that are manually placed will help a lot better.

Okay I'm going to chime back in here. OP make an account here (www.serpiq.com), it's free and type in the keyword or phrase in the keyword analysis tool. It will give you plenty of information on how competitive it will be to rank. Since you aren't too familiar with the research this lays out the basics so you can get a better understanding of how things work. I only use the free accounts but they work fine for the amount of small work I do from time to time.

For a competition like that it will take a good amount of time and a lot of work to rank then in the 1st position. So you have to work hard dude.

Thanks guys for your answers and your help posting on my thread means a lot. :o

I've been having a little trouble with a few keywords i want to go for but i feel like its to much competition. Can some of you maybe write how you go forth and rush a keyword. As in how do you check the SERPS on google for competition and maybe other tools you use.. number of searches also what exactly is my competition the SERP number Allintitle:, Allinurl:, keyword in quotes? Thanks Guys
