Hi all,

Context: Ive been on BHW for about a week going through threads, I am fairly new when it comes to understanding Backlinks, PBNs and have been reading all of the pinned before diving into these thread and new threads in other areas.
Ive noticed that many of the pinned messages are older, I still read them, for more knowledge and more of an understanding on what is going to be discussed, but how much of that information has actually change and would you still say that most of the information discussed are still priorities when it comes to building a website.

Most of it probably still works, but might need a slight variation or do it another way.

As far as priorities, just start with what you think is doable to test, and make sure your core content is optimized first. No sense in getting traffic if it will just bounce.

I am still learning after 10+ years here, and if you know those old guides, it is easier to spot the valuable new info that is related. It all helps us understand the big picture, good luck!

Basics remain the same
Just don't jump straight into buying links for a new domain

the value of old information is that it can help you learn the basic however, tactics change vry fast. I would use old thread for understanding concept nd current case studies for current tactics.

A lot of the fundamentals are still valid, but specific tactics and assumptions can age quickly. I'd use older BHW threads for concepts, then cross-check current advice against recent case studies and Google's latest

A lot has changed but the fundamentals have not. Old threads are still valuable because they teach the mindset behind SEO, not just tactics.
The biggest shift is that google is much better at detecting shortcuts now. Quality content, real authority, relevant links and user experience matter more than ever.
Learn the old methods. but always adopt them to todays SERPs.

The answer is YES! You still need that information which would serve as a basis for you since you are new. The newer information you encounter still have their roots from the old. Although, what was working then might not work now exactly, but that change is just minimal. So yes curate the old and mix the a bit on the new

even though the old case could be useful in understanding the basic, when it comes to implementation of strategie you have to be careful. according to me, you must first compare them with new cases.

The older the thread is, the better it would be to understnd how SEO works, but I wouldn't blindly apply SEO technques from years ago. imo learn the basics and then prove that specifc technique by more recent results.

The fundamentals remains the same but the approaches varies all of the time. The burning of PBN and spammy links happens a mch lot faster in today’s Google than it does in 2018, so the emphasis should be on quality highly relevant contextual back links.

I think older threads are great for learning the foundations, especially if you’re new. For actual implementation, though, I’d verify the tactic against recent results and current Google guidance.

Although the main ideas in these stickies have not lost their validity yet when it comes to how search engines operate the implementation has definitely moved vry forward. This is bcz currently google is far more strict in its policy toward poor quality PBNs and automation link spamming so u should test every thing on ur own level at first.

Ive been reading lately a bunch of Google's Patents when it comes to it for understanding, would you say that's a proper way of learning and understanding or do you think it'd be more effective to go thru BH and WH threads?

I wouldn’t write off the older threads. A lot of the basics are still relevant - site structure, quality content, backlinks, technical SEO, etc. But when it comes to things like PBNs and link building, I’d be more careful: what worked a few years ago can produce a very different result today

Yeah, exactly. I still read the old threads, but mostly to understand the logic behind the strategy. The tactics themselves can be pretty outdated. What worked 5 years ago definitely doesn’t always work today

A lot of the fundamentals still apply, so the older pinned threads are definitely worth reading. That said, SEO has changed quite a bit, especially around link quality, PBNs and what Google considers useful content, so I’d use the older posts for the basics and then check newer threads to see what’s actually working now.

What has changed entirely: cheap PBNs, automated Tier 2 link spam, exact match anchor stacking, and churn and burn AI posts are now instantly ignored or penalized. Older posts remain useful for understanding how search engines think, but recent testing threads should inform the actual playbook

It depends, but there's no loss in reading 20-30 threads more. The more you read the better you understand yourself which parts aren't so relevant anymore.
