How much information about the PC do public networks store

Hey, normally I use torbrowser or VPN or both, but I need to make an account on a site that blocks this.

There is a university not far from here with lots of people coming through which have a open guest network. I have used this network before for non sensitive matters. On the same laptop I plan to use now

What I wonder is
1 What kind of information would they store about my computer and its use should I make this account there, and
2. How can avoid anything being traced back to me?

I can tell you that not only public network may stole your data like IP address and other stuff. Simple apps also do that.
Especially messengers. We are no more secured. Even VPN and browsers like Tor don't give us full anonymity and security.

I dont have any apps or use any messengers or anything related to me in my tor browser if that's what you're talking about

Public network store my ip adress? What are you even talking about? Public networks assign an IP adress to me when i start. Its not related to me personally
 
Your assigned a local IP on the network. To do that it needs your MAC address. So find a way to Spoof your laptop's Mac address.

what's the solution then?
 
Depends on the administrator of the network, their hardware and its standard configuration, and their data storing policy.
You can't really know what they capture and store. But you should assume they get all the info possible.

Get a external wifi network card to use for this purpose, better than spoofing the mac of your built-in card.

For now we don't have any solution, I think.
But probably some guys work on it already and soon we could use some kind of fully anonymous soft..

And how do you communicate with people? Don't you use emails or some kind of social networks?

I use gmail for personal things, in browser. A different browser and with different IP than other stuff

Okay.. Then you probably did everything in order to stay private enough. I'm sure it's still possible to steal your information but if you don't do anything illegal I don't think it will happen.

Haha :) Nice thought! I've heard there are many cases now when people are imprisoned for posting some memes.. The world goes crazy..
So all of us have to be careful. There are too many forbidden things already.
