How Much Duplicate Content is Allowed Within a Website?

I agree with you if it is badly done, but for product sheets for example, with good variations I do not see the problem

why would it hurt your SEO ? it's unique content that is created

the spin has a bad reputation because a lot of shit has been done with it. But it can be a very good tool

As long as you're optimizing the pages for a different set of keywords, this should be good to go,
It's a common practice for some automated websites like these who target different locations (countries/cities), job board websites and many others,
Most of them are doing pretty well in the SERPs for years

The best possible thing is to not have any duplicate content at all . Try to come up with something original and unique . But if you must duplicate , be smart about it. Do not duplicate a whole paragraph . Go sentence by sentence and try to change the words a little. Over all its safe to go for only 10% duplicate content.
It doesn’t matter how much you have copy content . No, one ask you about. But, two thing happens:
Google does’t rank .
Content lost uniqueness .

Hope this helps !

Duplicate content is not accepted at any cost. It directly affects your website. If someone uses your content then you can register a complaint to Google.
At most 10% is acceptable, you can go beyond that but you would lose the opportunity of ranking your site in google. The more unique your post is the better it is for you.

Google reacts better to duplicate content, so I use duplicate content.

care to share your experience on this matter?

I've ranked pages with only duplicate content. Never just a copy of a single article, but paragraphs from multiple articles put together. Those pages are still ranking months and even years later.
Now, that's something interesting. I've seen many people post their experiences about having duplicate content on their sites, and still getting ranked.
duplicate content is not really a problem, since it does not result in a penalty.
Google will take the page that seems to be the most reliable and will rank it, ignoring the others (this is a problem)
Seems like the most plausible explanation, since many duplicate content sites are ranking in the serps.
This is a horrible advice. You'll lose authority and trust if you post spun content in your money site.
Umm, I wouldn't do it on my money site but there are ways to spin content and produce good articles. Yes, it will take a little bit more time and work than just copy-pasting a spun piece of content.

Depends on how you do it.

I want to know more about this as well.

There is a whole bunch of advice in this thread from people just parroting shit they've read. Good for BHW's index count but a pain for anyone trying to actually get advice.

Nobody is going to have done enough testing to give you a definitive number like 32.5% but some duplicate on your page is fine. I do it and plenty of other sites do it as well. My guess would be that 50% is too high and you'd run into cannibalization issues. I'd dial it down and I have a site ranking well with maybe 10-20% of the word count constantly published between different pages.

I was listening to a case study the other day but I can't seem to find the link. Someone with a reasonably big portfolio was surprised about just how much duplicate content she was getting away with. The same chunks of text between multiple pages but I don't know exactly how much that was.

I'd like to listen to that if you ever manage to remember the source?

To me, 10% hardly seems worthwhile.

You might as well just rewrite it.

But if you can get away with larger percentages then its worth doing....

And yes, that sounds like the same strategy I want to use, same paragraphs just slightly edited.

it may or may not affect the ranking in the SEO... but the real scenario is most of the people like the posts always with different contents... some people like the one which you posting ... it completely depends on the how they are providing traffic to your blogs

Why did you guys stopped spamming BHW with bad neighbor paranoia and now are on duplicate content?
Trends in news have changed or what?

There have been instances where people ranked duplicate content above the original content. I cannot tell you for sure how much duplicate content can pass the review because it depends on a lot of things from the website authority to the quality of backlinks. Just wanted to share it, don't know if it helps you with your question. :)

This is a great question because a lot of people think that every website has to be 100% original.

The truth is the typical website has, at least, some level of duplication.

In many cases, it can't be avoided.

The key here is to ask yourself: “What is the ‘tolerable’ threshold for my site?”

And, unfortunately, that doesn’t have a straight answer that is good for all sites and for all time.

You have to look at the context of your site.

What kind of website do you have? What kind of content do you produce?

More importantly, what kind of niche are you in?

If you are, for example, in a news niche, and you basically syndicate other people’s content, and you add a little bit of commentary here and there, that is to be expected.

And guess what?

Google will still rank you!

If you don’t believe me, just look at all the syndicated content that Google shows in search results all day, every day.

But, in other niches, duplicate content is the kiss of death.

So pay close attention to what other players are doing in your niche, and take a look at the specific context in which duplicate content can make sense in your situation.

Ideally, you should just feature original content.

But, depending on how your site is structured, this is either inconvenient or simply impractical.
