How much does threads following do?

Hey,

im trying to maybe start an experiment and want to know your guys experience with this.

I´ve felt like when i want to for example target the man niche you want to follow only men and try to show interest in their stuff. For example for me it seems like that if you follow girl accounts and want to target the man niche you will get bad results. No idea if im totally wrong with this and ive just picked up some wrong signals. I just know that when we want to target beauty/health products for example we try to follow women and if we follow men we seem to get worse results.

My experience on Threads is as follows

1. who you follow/interact with doesn't directly affect your target audience, it only affects your feed

2. who follows you WILL affect your target audience
a) if your followers are not interested in what you post, they won't engage and that will signal Threads that your post may not be interesting
b) you should aim that your followers are like your target audience so they give your post the initial engagement before Threads can promote it to non-followers
c) this is why follow-for-follow strategy with random profiles may kill your targeting because most likely they will not resonate in your niche


If your target male audience interacts with female profiles, a good strategy would be to comment under those female profile posts, so that your target male audience can see the comments and hopefully find then interesting & follow you.
