Hi guys,
I own a political news website,i have access to a collection of semi-secret political documents, about 100 documents (i'm not Snowden indeed :) ) .I want to sell this collection on my site.In your opinion, which price should i put on this document collection so that the visitors cant find it too expensive not to buy it or too cheap that it seems rubbish to them?

That might be hard to sell... How so you intend to target people who are interested in thst kind of stuff?

I think only some news agencies and journalists would be intetested in it, but once they buy it ,it's over, you won't sell anymore since docs will be all over the web.

Thank you for the answer.Even considering that I get my traffic from Political forums and groups, will it be hard to sell such a product to the visitors?.I will try to put a copy right law on the documents.

If I'd be into your place I'd use the documents to push my website and monetize it with ads

Instead of releasing the documents as text documents; release them as pictures of the text document with a watermark.

Disperse them and if they gain popularity the only originals on the internet will have your link on them thus potentially gaining organic traffic.

You need to follow this suggestion.

I'm not sure how will that go. Nobody is, but you can try of course. Tell me one thing, is it legal to own those documents? Are you sure you won't get in trouble?

No i wont get into trouble, already i have done this in France,i have sold french documents,it was not enough profitable for me(about 150 USD per month),but this time,i will get my traffic just from political groups so my visitors are targeted.
$5 per document.
It is about 100 documents,no one will pay 500 USD for that for sure. For the collection of 100 USD,which price will be reasonable and affordable in US market?

Build a list by giving away like 10 semi-juicy ones for free as a lead magnet, and then hit them with an upsell to get the rest for like $37 - be sure to watermark them with your URL since they'll probably get leaked pretty quick

Is $37 affordable for the public in US?I can get about 10k visitors from US daily.I want to set a price which is enough reasonable and tempting for the major people in US.

That leads to a whole discussion about conversion rate optimization. If I we're you I'd split test different prices, $17, $27, $37, $47 and see which yields the highest profit.

Note: I'd take a slightly lower conversion rate for double the $ all day, so don't look exclusively at conversion rate %

Maybe try contact journalists. If it's juicy, they may be up for any kind of billing model.
