how much does quantity of content affect seo

I hear people saying that it's possible to rank a 1 page website the same as a 100 page website but others say that having more content shows google that you are more authoritative.. Which is the truth? How much content do you typically put on a niche site?

50+ pages, preferably 100 or so, but the more the better.

Don't forget quality as well, a well written, well informed 2000 word article is much better than 500 word rubbish.

Write as much as you can. The amount of content on site is directly connected with your Serp position. And don't forget to interlink everything nicely.

It's Quality Vs Quantity. The better the Quality the easier you rank. Check Backlinko, he has like 32 articles only on his websites but he ranks on first page of High Competition Keywords.

According to him the more write Quality and well-researched Content and then Focus on Marketing your Content.

This is unnecessarily white hat approach. Google surely has some "content quality" algorithms, but you don't need to spend $10/100 for that. Just don't post an utter shit and you will be perfectly fine. About "Marketing your content", well, that's total bollocks.

If you have a damn amazon site, you will never market your content in any way, because it's impossible. Backlinks still work and that's what you should be focusing on.

And in regards to "Backlinko", that's same guru I've never even heard about? Yeh, that's surely something to believe... not.

I think your question is generalizing. The keyword that you are ranking for also plays a role. Some random keyword with just 5 searches a month can be ranked with just 1 page while a high competition keyword will no doubt require more than 1 page or maybe more than just a few links to keep it on the top

Doing a simple competitor research on keywords using metrics such as PA/DA and TF can help give a rough idea on the level of competition.
